Never.
He could take me to a different place in heaven and I could get all melancholic but I never cried. His music makes me tingle, shout, fierce, happy and sad but never cry.

Maybe cry is the wrong word but its like when you see a sad film and your eyes fill up and you get a lump in your throat. Try watching the clip below from bambi but be warned this is very sad and powerfull stuff and the way you feel while your watching it is how Ive felt when watching purple rain live.

Now, this makes me cry but not Prince. Prince is an artist, he gives me joy not painfull thoughts.

But you don't just have to be 'sad' to cry...

The part of princes music that always chokes me up is the high vocal part of purple rain just after the solo and before the orchestral part at the end. Its that culminated with the look prince does when hes singing it he really knows how to convey pain with his eyes its a beautiful thing really well composed.

How about you?

the last few seconds of "Purple Rain" always bring me to tears... it's like he's channeling Carlos Santana on that E string....

To be honest, Princes music never made me cry.

As someone else here said: he can dazzle me, surprise me, give me inspiration, make my mind blow, but most of the time he doesn't 'emote' me.

Maybe it has something to do with my feeling that he never gives all he has on a personal and emotional level in his music. There is always some 'holding back' in his music (and lyrics).

But there are other artists that can make me cry, so i don't have to rely on Prince for that... lol

Sometimes..."It's gonna be lonely," was the first song, I cried 2...When U learn that your first love...Isn't going to be your only love....That is sad... cool

The one I think I've cried to the most. But Man O'War is another one that brings tears. Purple Rain did back in the 80's but now, not so much.
Another Lonely Christmas is an annual tearjerker.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Yes, I can be moved to tears easily. I feel things so deeply that my eyes just get full and before you know it I am crying. It used to bother me, but I overcame it and people who know me best love that quality about me. Prince's music is something that I love and so it moves me to tears quite often. I cry with excitement at concerts too.

Yes! It was June 24, 2002 in Chanhassen, Minnesota at Paisley Park or Prince: A Celebration 2002/Xenophobia.

I always wanted Prince do do an acoustic only set, just him and a guitar or piano. When Prince took the stage and started playing acoustically, my heart stopped for 1,000th of a milisecond. When the strings started on "7" I cried silently and covered my face. People around me were asking me if I was all right and I said, "This is my dream concert."

Anxiety

"another lonely christmas" made me cry the first time i heard it, mostly because i was having a particularly lonely christmas when that single came out and it was the most perfect "misery loves company" song i could have wished into my life at that time.

Some of his music reaches into the very center of the heart and leaves breathless the listener; taste the words and notes, sometimes like Pepto-Bismol not such a great taste, but good for you. And sometimes like an Amaretto truffle, goes down warm and sweet with a little kick to the palate.
