I was actually listening to it today.Its a really decent guitar track. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

It's the scene where The Kid charges into the house to look for his father
after he'd beaten his mother again. Then hears music coming from the basement and his father is playing "Father's Song" (hence the name) on the piano. It's the last scene before the performance of Computer Blue. [Edited 6/21/08 2:10am] | |

I always thought Father's Song WAS Computer Blue.
Francis L. plays it on piano and then The Kid, being the genius he is, hears it once and plays it with The Revolution live, a.k.a. Computer Blue. Listen to the piano melody and then the guitar melody in Computer Blue. They are the same. It's the same song! I also thought The Revolution were genius for being able to play Purple Rain so good without ever rehearsing it. | |

The only officially-released recording of the song features in the film, as described above. The melody features in the middle part of 'Computer Blue'. But there is no official release of an audio recording of the song itself. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |
