your 3 favourite P albums from each era (80's,90s) and 1 from the 00's(since there aint that many) ok my 3 from the 80's are.....
1.ATWIAD Truly great album and i think it took alot of ball's 2 release an psychidelic album like this after the more commericial sounding 1999 and Purple Rain. On first listen I wasnt 2 keen on it apart from the songs Pop Life and Raspberry Beret(which i had already heard on The Hits/B-sides collection) But the other songs and the album on the whole did manage 2 grow on me, so much infact that i adore it, Paisley Park and also The Ladder are truly great songs imo 2.Parade Another album i wasnt very fond of on first listen (apart from Kiss and Mountains). However Sometimes It Snows In April and Girls and Boys would eaisly be in my top 20 of Prince songs. especially Girls and Boys i love that weird noise in it that sounds like a duck or sumthin. On another note can sum1 tell me what that instrument is please? 3.Purple Rain Opens with Lets Go Crazy...need i say more about this album? Close runner up next to Purple Rain 4 3rd - Dirty Mind My fave from 90's are..... 1.The Gold Experience Another great opener on this album P Control (1 of few Prince rap songs that i actually like) Contains great songs like Shh,I Hate You,Now,Endorphinmachine and Dolphin which is about recarnation and u know its a song only sum1 as imaginitve as P could write and thats not many....infact its just him 2.Girl 6 (Soundtrack) I only got this album 2 weeks ago and i know most of the material has been released before.but it features alot of my all time faves like Pink Cashmere(B-Side), Girls and Boys (from Parade), Erotic City (B-Side), The Cross (from SOTT) How Come You Don't Call Me (B-Side) and my number 1 Prince song of all-time.....Adore! 3.Emancipation Ah 3 Hours of material, sure theres sum filler here, but i truly think this is a great album the only downfall is its dated rather quickly most probably because it was a big production album and didnt really feature many organic sounding songs. Disc 1 is really a funk feast my faves from disc 1 are White Mansion,In This Bed I Scream, Mr Happy, Courtin Time and Right Back Here In My Arms. My fave disc tho is Disc 2 which does contain sum of his greatest ballads imo (FLSM/W, One Kiss At a Time, Saviour, Dreamin About u, Lets Have A Baby and The Holy River. As for disc 3 its more experiemental and isnt 2 every 1s taste altho i love Face Down (another good P Rap) and Da,Da,Da and i dont really not 2 keen on rap music but i dont know wever cuz its P and im bein Biast Close runner up next to emancipation 4 3rd - Come My 1 fave album from 00's Musicology First P album i ever owned so hold's a special place in my heart and holds 1 of my fav ballads "Call My Name" my mum brought me it cuz she was a big fan bck in the day Close runner up with Musicology - 3121 Thanks 4 Reading this [Edited 6/18/08 15:23pm] Everybody's looking 4 the ladder

80's
Dirty Mind, Controversy, and 1999. This is the holy Trinity of Prince albums to me. They represent the Prince I love. Sexy, nasty and crazy as hell. 90's Gold Experience. Very solid Album, one of his best ever, and who'da thunk it comes from an era most hate? I think it had an edge to it. Emancipation Like, 3121, its just a straight up solid album. Nice to leave on around the house all day, you know? It also has an occasional gem here and there. I think disk 2 is my favorite. Diamonds and Pearls I didn't like this album at first, but it grew on me. I think the only bad part is...well...everyone knows... 00's 3121 With 3121, its juts a good album. Nothing phenominal, but nothing that will make you puke all over yourself either. I could play this whole CD on repeat all day. It's a flat out good album.

I'm going to say 1st that I love P's LP's from the 70s. Great music.
80's 1) "DIRTY MIND" - His arrival. Waving his freak flag high. I remember this was shocking stuff in 1980. Is it R&B? Is it funk? Is it new wave? Is it punk rock?...YES! P made it seem that he was living the "UPTOWN" life everyday. 2) "PARADE" - Classic. Have it on LP, cassette, and CD. A great joint from start to end. From funk to soul to jazz to Eastern Carribean Calyspso to folk, it's all in there. I wore this out for a year the day I bought it. Almost hard to believe that this is the same dude that did "D.M". And Wendy and Lisa's influence are all over this. 3) "S.O.T.T" - Incredible. Everyone from Lenny Kravitz to D'Angelo to Pharrell has bit off this LP. Very diverse and personal. 90's 1) "CRYSTAL BALL" - Dream come true..waiting for part 2. 2) "EMANCIPATION" - Not crazy about all of it, but there are some great songs on it. "Love We Make", "Human Body", "Face Down", "Joint 2 Joint", "Sex", "Somebody's Somebody". P sounded like he enjoyed his freedom and was pretty creative. 3) "T.G.E" - "Dolphin", "Shy", "319", "Billy Jack Bitch"..Some of those cuts could have been on older LP's. Haven't listened to it in years but I remember it being cool. 00 1) "MUSICOLOGY" - Good tunes. A good comeback year for P. Love his guitar work in "A Million Days" and "Cinnamon Girl". 2) "N.E.W.S" - My fave. Listen to it all the time. I want to hear him do more joints like this. 3) "T.R.C" - Love the musicmanship. "Muse To The Pharoh" sounds like P was vibing on D'Angelo but it's a great song. Guess P decided to take back what was his. Honarable Mention.."LOVESEXY"..Maybe because it's been 20 years but I've been revisiting this classic also.
