Prince and Lenny Kravitz should tour togehter

I was watching the Rave Un2 The Year 2000 DVD, and I was amazed at the chemistry and total mutual admiration and respect Prince and Lenny Kravitz have for each other. Just the sight of those two jammin' together, would be a good enough draw for them to go on a co-headling tour together. Maybe a 25-30 concert date/city tour to just test the waters and the marketplace. Prince is always the man on his axe but maybe playing alongside a peer could inspire new ideas and get his engine revving in terms of a new musical direction. I wouldn't count Madonna because her ego is as big as his and Chaka Khan's has totally moved on.Maybe in the near future that would happen. I think it would be cool for him to play some stripped down rock n' roll with no horn section, and really let his guitar playing and singing speak for him instead of (no disrespect to The Twinz) backup dancers and over-singing and no control back up singers. I'm slowly tiring of the campy, Vegas show revue of Shelby J, and Marva J. Renato, Mr. Hayes and his current rhythm section is enough to make some new and interesting music. Prince if you're reading this retire the 3121 era and concept and play more intimate shows in the vein of One Night Alone.

Hell No!...
Kravitz is shite - a completely overrated tosser
He most definitely is NOT Princes peer.
If Kravitz wanted to tour with a peer, let him tour with the has-been formally known as TTD, or one of the wannabe pretend 'rockers' off American Idol...

Prince doesn't need to tour with anybody - album wise he may be uninspired and dull, but live he'll never need to tour in a revue with a bunch of other (former) 'names' - on the contrary, handing the limelight over to lesser talents in his live show is something most people would prefer he stop doing.

Seriously, if you went to see MLK speak live, would you want him handing over the mike for half the time to hear a 'peer' like Oprah or Obama speaking? I rest my case... wink

Nooooo, no, no! I could never pin point what it was...but there is something seriously OFF about Kravitz...

And I second that Kravitz is NOT a peer of P.

Unlike most of the people in this thread, I actually like Lenny Kravitz, and I think this is a horrible idea!!! Let Prince be Prince, and let Lenny be Lenny. I think an occasional jam every now and again is cool, but the novelty would wear off quickly!!!

They're solo artists for a reason!!!

I like Kravitz as well. I've seen Lenny 4 times in concert. I've always supported the brutha, mainly cuz he's a real musician like myself. But still, Raindrop's statement was on point.

i don't think they are friends anymore. Not since just a few years after the RAVE concert. Lenny doesn't seem to be the brightest guy, and he is a big exact copycat of previous styles. A good producer though!

great point, and it would make me resent Prince that much more.

Prince has more raw talent than basically anybody, but so what - I've greatly preferred Lenny's music for pretty much his entire career
