Prince album of all covers or brand new material?

In a theoretical question, would you prefer a Prince CD to be a cover album; Prince's takes on another's original material? Or Prince doing, as he always has done, an album on his own penned tracks?

For example, I think Prince doing an album of all covers of Jimi Hendrix tunes might be super cool. Or even maybe an album of all Joni tunes? Or maybe Zeppelin? Sly?

Y'all????

Neither!

I'd like to see Prince reinterpret his older stuff, some acoustic things, rock a few things up, whatever.

Would absolutely be down with that like he did the acoustic version of Love on 3121 website shortly before it was shut down or faded to black as you will.

I am sure Prince could make a great cover record, regardless of the artist...I am sure that Prince would add an interesting flavor to any song.

Not saying that ai prefer a cover album, but i always dremed(call me crazy if you want) of Prince puting out a Bossa Nova cover album adding his unique flavour to this Brazilian music style.Whell he likess jazz and Bossa nova as jazz has a lot of beutiful harmonies and melodies and really good lyrics too.Sinatra did it whith Tom Jobim on a remarcable album and i just find Princes voice an intersting match to Bossa nova style.
I realize you guys are gonna kill me for this opinion, but remember its just a dream,a personal one.....

If he releases a "cover" album, I think it should be culled from live recordings from past performances in front of a live audience, there is quite a few really great ones!
I don’t want to hear studio covers at all, I just think of those awful stale covers on Emancipation! (shiver)

be careful, cuz sometimes it takes A LOT of creativity to give an established song a new life/outfit/vacation home, if U follow me. For example, tae it or leave it, Everyday is a Winding Road. He turned that song on it's head, twisted it and turned it till it as VERY unlike the original. Short story, sometimes covers can be VERY demanding.
