But I agree, its coming from the same place as the other songs mentioned, as well as several others.
Only in this song he seems to be taking some responsibility as opposed to his many "you done me wrong (even though I cheated on you, which I won't mention here) songs"
So perhaps Strange Relationship is really more revealing about that side of Prince - whether you wanna call that side twisted, abusive or whatever - than about any of his relationships in particular. Which is rare.
Big Tall Wall (about Susannah) is another example, which is probably why he changed the original lyrics later on (to "G is for my girlfriend - you're the only one") and never released the song.
He doesn't seem to like or want to reveal too much of that side of himself to the public.
So Strange Relationship stands out in that respect as well as others.
