The symbol album with Continental, The Max and etc.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

definitely 1999. it has such a compressed, synthetic sound, drums sound like they are hitting wet cardborad boxes. 1982!!!

Once it's remastered everybody would change their tune.

If it ever is remastered.

In all non-sarcasm, I feel your pain.

Seriously, Prince's entire first decade needs to be remastered badly. If you listen to 1999 compared to albums released with today's technology, or just an old remastered album, 1999 sounds TINY and less dynamic to say the least.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I'd have to go with Controversy and most of 1999. They both have that definite "moment in time" quality to them, although I agre that a good remastering might go a long way to helping with that impression.

I also don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that an album is representative of the time it came out. It defines a time in history and immediately takes you back to that moment. I'd have to throw Purple Rain into the pile for this reason alone.
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.
