i remember being blown away the first time i heard this song, thinking it was so pretty and dark and emotionally explosive all at the same time. listening to that music for the first time while staring at that album art was a TRIP.

I would listen to that intro over and over. Even before the lyrics begin, the song has run a lovely emotional course. After hearing it the first time, I had to run and ask my parents who Clara Bow was.

That intro, from the heavy, echoing synth sounds to the crescendo and twittering guitars to the use of space and classically-influenced piano chord shifts -- i'm verging on being a broken record tonight -- is textbook Stevie Wonder.

Not only Stevie but The Ohio Players as well. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him." http://ccoshea19.googlepa...ssanctuary http://ccoshea19.googlepages.com

I friggin LOVE this song! When I first heard this song, I was 8 and I was freaked out by it. When I listened to it again, I was 20 & let me tell you, I fell in love with. I felt like I was in a movie while the song was playing. It's in my top 5 favorite Prince ballads. It's pure class. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It would take a more articulate man than me to say how good this song is. I've never heard another song quite like it. Sounds like it was written in a dream. Remarkable. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
