heres a question for you -
What would YOU consider Princes last ground-breaking music/album? an interesting concept 'ground-breaking' and 'classic' all rolled into one. walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous

These days it's all about money, so if he does something that sells extraordinarily well, it will go down as ground breaking, I think his recent concerts are doing it for him right now.

What kind of sounds would he have to produce for us to recognize it as groundbreaking? We are after all jaded by 30 years worth of albums, concerts, and unreleased bootlegs. I saw both TRC and NEWS as those groundbreaking releases u hope for. Funny thing is a whole lot of fans shit on these works. For me they showed that Prince was still willing to go places he hadn't gone before. Neither of those CDs sounds like anything that he had done before. Shoot throw Xpectation in there as well. A lot of the fans are not really looking for the ground breaking music they say they are. What they are looking for is music that conforms to whatever was their favorite Prince period or sound.

Good Lord! I couldn't have put this any better myself. 'The Rainbow Children', 'N.E.W.S.', and 'Xpectation' represent some of the most refreshing music Prince has done. I know right. As long as fans continue to wait for that "new, groundbreaking, innovative Prince CD", those fans will continue to be disappointed. They are setting themselves up for heartbreak and then before you know it, we'll have a bunch of threads around P:M&M talking about "Prince has FINALLY lost it" or "It's time to Retire" or "Prince should stop making new songs and only release stuff from The Vault" shit like that. It's stupid, it really is. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

signo'the times was prince's last classic album. it's only been 21years since he's had a classic album. the trc wasn't a classic album. it's one of the better albums he has done since emancipation. at least the arrangements were live sounding and organic. BOB4theFUNK

I don't really care. P's got enough classic records to keep me happy. He has nothing left to prove. He's done it all.

Tricky99's words should be stickified and put in the FAQ - probably the truest statement I've read on the org in a long time.
I rarely post, but just had to applaud the insight and intelligence. And hello, is that Mr Greycap come to pretend he has the skinny on the next album again? Surely he wont get away with it again? You can fool some of the people some of the time etc
