Controversey or Selftitled?

I don;t know which to get next. I love songs on both, and the Self-titled has Why You Wanna Treat Me so Bad. Are there more "guitar songs" on there besides that. Give me some opinions.
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

The Highlights for me on Prince are

I wanna b ur lover
Why you wanna treat me so bad
Sexy dancer
BAMBI (you wont get much more guitar than this!!!!)
I feel for you
It's gonna b lonely.

For Controversy it is

Controversy
Sexuality
Do me baby
Private Joy
Lets Work
Annie Christian

It's too hard for me to choose between albums but,

BAMBI is one of his best ever songs, and as you mentioned you want Guitars then I advise you to by Prince - but it has alot more ballads and slow jams on than Controversy!!!!

Its true i like both..but imho..i'd go for self-titled prince, just because i would recommend getting the albums in order. the tracks below are a few of favorites from the self titled album.

I wanna be your lover
why you wanna treat me so bad
bambi- (i think this song rocks.. to me this track sounds like motley crues album 'too fast for love' album)
sexy dancer

Too late for that. I got them WAY out of order. I'm also into that real tight MPLS funk thing but I know that's likely to be found on all pre-PR albums

I Love them both, however, I would choose, "Prince." because it's more romantic than, "Controversy." I have to be in the mood 4 Controversy....I can listen to "Prince," anytime.

Dirty Mind and 1999, not For You Never heard any songs form it and assumed it may be a tad to 70's/disco, and I wanna be your lover is about as far as I wanna go in that direction

With the exception of a couple of songs I find Prince closer to For You than any thing that follows it. I find it has nothing in common with Dirty Mind with the exception of Bambi.

Controversy however is definitely a good mix of Dirty mind and 1999 with Sexuality and Jack u off sounding very Dirty Mind'ish and tracks like Controversy, Private Joy, Lets work and Annie Christian sounding very new and different compared to anything previous and perfect examples of where he was going to with 1999.

If you want to stay away from the disco the I personally feel that you will only like 3 songs on Prince - being I wanna b ur lover, Why you want to treat me so bad (alot more guitar driven than I wanna b lover) and Bambi!

For the More funky raw sounding material - you should definitely go for Controversy.

Hope that helps mate.

Both are entirely different albums. Although the song "Controversy" is my all time favorite song by Prince, his second album, as a whole, is better. Better songwriting overall. More consistent. But one is by an artist trying to find his path but at the same time, writing coldblooded jams and the other is a cat who had already found his "style". U can't miss on either one.

Controversy is my favorite album. It's a tough decision because you already have Dirty Mind and 1999, so normally I would say go with Controversy first. However, you're a guitar player and Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad is great and Bambi is my favorite Prince guitar-driven song. That song rocks HARD. If I were you...I'd just get both at the same time lol
chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

I might just do that. I was assuming all the songs on Prince would be guitar based like WYWTMSB...I'm wanting these because I'm trying to soak up as much as that MPLS stuff as I can because I'm doing a record and want it to be in that style/genre/whatever (IE. Linndrum and synth lol)
