Fans that are trying to let Prince off the hook for continued maltreatment have the equivalent of Stockholm syndrome - where the abducted person falls for their kidnapper.

Wake up from his spellbinding hold on you. Prince is a mortal. He is a man that is incredibly talented, wealthy and privileged, idolised by millions, which means that he more than most has a duty to behave in a fair and thoughtful manner.

Suing your fans for taking pictures and filming your shows on their mobile phones for prosperity is repulsive. Canceeling a show so late in the day without giving a direct and thorough explanation is repellent and unforgivable. Sorry to say but our Messianic, musical genius is a selfish and delusional creature.

I would even go as far as to say that he was downright outrageous to Warners, who gave him the largest and most inflated record deal in history, gave him unheard of control for a major label artist. Even then he threw a childish tantrum.

You'll probably say I'm being too negative and that I should not follow him if I have so little faith. But I liken his behaviour over time after years of support as actions similar to your best mate running off with your wife, your longterm business partner running off with all the money etc.

If he is genuinely ill or something then I retract my criticism, but his fans have suffered too much to not be given credible reasons.

He has not sued anyone and no you cannot film a concert. All venues have big signs that tell you not to do it.

And no I am not a Kool-Aid drinker. I do not like the way P goes about things but, legally on some issues he is within his rights.

It doesn't quite match the thread title though. As far as the thread title, I don't think Prince actually makes excuses for anything. That would imply that he knows there's a problem. Prince doesn't, in fact, think that the quality of his output is any worse than it was before, I'm sure. Hell, with the ease in which he manipulates and changes his old classics at whim, I'd reckon to say he probably doesn't realize just how terrific THAT material was.

To Prince, it's probably all just part of one big party. And whether folks get it or not, probably is of no concern to him.

This wasn't even his fault. Apparently, the idiot promoter couldn't get the right licences in time or the show, and it had to be cancelled.

There's nothing Prince loves to do more than entertain the people who've supported him for so many years. This is just as upsetting to him as it is the fans. When concerts get cancelled, the artist is the only person who gets blamed, but it takes a whole lot more than Prince to put on a show!!!

People have a right to bitch about Prince's dodgy exploits. If he didn't want speculation he could easily clear it up by issuing a statement but he doesn't. His fans are expendible to him and he knows enough of them are susceptible to his starhood that they wouldn't question being treated like trash.
