an interesting concept 'ground-breaking' and 'classic' all rolled into one.

These days it's all about money, so if he does something that sells extraordinarily well, it will go down as ground breaking, I think his recent concerts are doing it for him right now.

And what is a ground-breaking classic these days? What kind of sounds would he have to produce for us to recognize it as groundbreaking? We are after all jaded by 30 years worth of albums, concerts, and unreleased bootlegs.

I saw both TRC and NEWS as those groundbreaking releases u hope for. Funny thing is a whole lot of fans shit on these works. For me they showed that Prince was still willing to go places he hadn't gone before. Neither of those CDs sounds like anything that he had done before. Shoot throw Xpectation in there as well. A lot of the fans are not really looking for the ground breaking music they say they are. What they are looking for is music that conforms to whatever was their favorite Prince period or sound.

signo'the times was prince's last classic album. it's only been 21years since he's had a classic album. the trc wasn't a classic album. it's one of the better albums he has done since emancipation. at least the arrangements were live sounding and organic.

I don't really care. P's got enough classic records to keep me happy. He has nothing left to prove. He's done it all.
