Right now i am looking at the Musicology video, and it occurs to me this song song is actually very underrated.

Compared to 'Black Sweat' from 3121 its a far better example of the magic Prince can create with funk-music, when he strips its down to its bare essentials: bouncy bass, simple but effective drums, interlocking synth chords and vocal catchphrases.

Alltough it doesn't have the sheer brilliance of songs like When doves Cry and Kiss, i think its a much better song in the stripped down, almost avantgarde funk-vein then Black Sweat.

Anyone agrees?

Yes, other than the beat (which he borrowed from himself) I don't really love Black Sweat.

Musicology is probably my favorite track on that record. And you're right, it's not a real classic, but it's maybe classic later period Prince.

I like the beats of Black Sweat also.

A shame those beats are used to carry such a mediocre and mindless melody.
