Dear, oh dear, do U have a good taste in music? The answer is yes, cuz this is the album I'm listening the most, lately.

I really get a kick out of this ONE! Especially during the piano set. 'How come U don't call me anymore' is one of the best tracks along with 'Anna Stesia', 'Take me with U' and 'Joy in repetition'.

It's in my "I do not often listen to it"-corner. It is a tat... ermmm. Overly smooth.

Uhmmm. Maybe I should give it another spin and see how long I last this time.

Of all the discs in that set, I listen to the aftershow the most. The rest of it is just a little too...uh..."Rainbow intense" for my taste.

Ooh, that's it! The vocoder and the too silly lyrics. The fact he rambles about 'leave that blood alone', which is about not being a blood donor. The silly twat and his cultish nonsense about interferons.

And the stupid-ass preaching about 'getting your purple rain on' during the US leg of the tour, then go to Europe and play Purple Rain. rolleyes

I am sure his lyrical themes are so lame these days is cuz he actually believes all that bs.

The horrid part to me is, that musically, the Rainbow Children and some of the improv's on the ONA tour are amazing (and leading up to N.E.W.S. and Xpectation) but the lyrical nonsense he spews out is so full of it. Maaaaan, I just can't listen to it.

Me too. The aftershow disc is the best reason to get it. Hell, I'm happy I have it just for "Alphabet St." alone. But ONA itself is too reliant on material and attitudes from TRC. There is some greatness on there--"Anna Stesia" is wonderful if you edit out the "how God wants to be worshipped" nonsense--but anything that reduces "I Wanna Be Your Lover" to a barely there interlude (when the audience clearly loves it and wants more) constitutes a tease and not a masterpiece, imo.

The music is amazing. It's just too bad his dogma ran over his karma. disbelief

when i was at avery fisher hall in ny, he said that during xenophobia and i woot! party then he did it during the piano segment rolleyes pissed

but on the topic of this collection of songs...it's cool but the constant switiching of cities and it's not the full ONA tour due 2 prince not wanting 2 pay royalities 2 others ..is what makes it slightly annoying

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

listened to the it ain't over disc the other night. don't see why it gets such a bad rap confused. some cool jams on it nod. joy in repetition headbang with the guitar, especially towards the end. we do this is kinda funky. love alphabet st. and 2 nigs. dorothy parker is probably my fave track of the whole set, great piano work and whatnot dancing jig and girls and boys is sorta fun. the only letdown, imo, is peach, which drags on for too long without anything really interesting happening neutral. all in all, pretty decent disc thumbs up!. the whole set isn't bad either cool.
