Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic

Is Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic any better than Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic?

There are a couple of nice touches added to the new CD. But the major selling point is that you get Beautiful Strange, which is an awe inspiring! It's such a good song - fun to play and even more fun to improvise with.

Only If you take the best songs off it, and the best songs
off Rave Un2, and the best songs off NPS, & the best songs
from npgmc year 1 you'll be able to compile a stellar 18
track album.

But as a whole, Rave In2 has it's moments. Especially since
it has "Beautiful Strange" to boast.

The remix title track will make your teeth ache tho, so be
cautious and don't play it too loud or near open windows;
people might actually come in and slap you for the atonal
abuse.

Well, IstenSzek, seeing that you would take the best songs off it, and the best songs off Rave Un2, and the best songs off NPS, & the best songs from npgmc year 1 to compile a stellar 18
track album.

I would like your feeback of what songs I should include according to your opinion.

Thanks.

They're about the same, but if you were forced to choose between the two I'd go for "Rave IN2" as opposed to "Un2", largely because "Beautiful Strange" is one of those great recent relatively "obscure" Prince songs (like "Wasted Kisses").

That's the way I like it best. Without the title track smile
that would have fit better on Graf Bridge or something.
thanks for the tracklist, i never thought about adding the nps songs to it. How is 'one song' anyway? good song?

Think Gareth Gates with a hangover and you'll get the picture.

I got Rave In2 yesterday and think it's cool
Basic differences:

1.Rave In The Joy Fantastic: sort of hardcore dance version
2.Undisputed: different drum beat and chorus, and it gets rid of that "NPG - Get Funky!" chant which I hated on Rave Un2
3. Greatest Romance: remix version with Eve rap, it is slightly different to the version released on the Greatest Romance maxi-single
4. Hot Wit U: contains bits of Prince singing "Nasty Girl". I prefer the Rave Un2 version of this song
5. Tangerine: Extended version with guitar solo
6. So Far, So Pleased: the same as Rave Un2
7. The Sun, Moon & Stars: the same as Rave Un2
8. Man 'O' War: Complete remix - turns a simple ballad into something completly different. It's got a "Wasted Kisses" kind of vibe
9. Baby Knows: Extended version
10. I Love U, But...: the same as Rave Un2
11. Beautiful Strange: new track, not as good as I was expecting after everyone praises it here, but it's not bad by any means
12. Silly Game: same as Rave Un2
13. Wherever U Go: same as Rave Un2
14. Prettyman: Extended version

Overall, it's probably slightly better than Rave Un2, but I wish "Strange But True" was on there, it's one of my favorites. Even in songs that sound the same as their Rave Un2 conterparts are mixed slightly different, but hardly enough to call them a different version. A Prince fanatic will appreciate the changes, but to the general public, I dont think it's groundbreaking or anything.

Enjoy.

Let's forget that Rave In2 has no segues, no long silent tracks, no ads and doesn't act annoyingly when put in a computer! Oh, and NO Everyday Is A Winding Road!

In my opinion for the reasons stated above, it's a much better album. The only small regret is that I wish he'd left Rave Un2 on, instead of Rave In2.

I prefer Rave un2 just because I think he totally screwed up the title track, Hot Wit U, and Man O War on Rave in2. In other words, the remixes on here suck. However, the extended versions and the addition of Beautiful Strange is like butta.

Conclusion, take Rave in2, replacing the remixes with the originals from Rave un2. If you actually like the song like I do, put Everyday is a Winding Road back on. Then you really have something!

I do like the Undisputed remix, but I would still prefer the original actually.

If u can get just the original version of Beautiful Strange from somwhere then do so. He ruined a great track by adding an annoying fuzzy guitar over the top of the original guitar.
See if u leave the little man alone with his tracks for too long he messes them up...

To me it seems that Rave In2 is an abandoned project.

Looks like he started to remix each song
and sort of lost interested during the process and left some tracks untouched.

I think you're right. I feel the same way.
There are only a few 'real' remixes. The other songs are the same as Rave un2 or with minor changes (extended for a few sec's etc.). I think that it could have been so much better. This album could not have been released worldwide. It has way to little changes from the original.

I THINK IT IS OUT OF ORDER THAT SIX MONTHS AFTER YOU BUY A CD THAT IT GETS RERELEASED AGAIN JUST TO EXPLOIT THE PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT THE ORIGINAL WITH THESE EXTRA TRACKS.

I ordered Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic on October 29, 2002 from NPG retail, and I still have not got a copy of it yet. They placed the charges on my credit card as soon as they got the order, but no CD yet.
