Best Prince live guitar solo for a guest singer I nominate his guitar solo during Amy Winehouse's Love Is A Losing Game during an aftershow in London last year.
There have been plenty more for other live guests but this is the one I'm feeling right now. [Edited 7/28/08 12:26pm]

Seriously, I think some song of The Time, like 'get it up'. Or the R&R hall of fame solo. I haven't heard the Winehouse song 21-9, so I might have to eat my words...

Sander, I meant P playing guitar in a live concert setting... There are plenty of examples... For instance, P did a killer solo when Stevie Wonder guested onstage with him at Glam Slam during Maybe Your Baby.

The guitar solo at Camden Palace when Mica Paris guested on "Just My Imagination" is the most memorable one for me. "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

I have seen hundreds of his guitar solos, and right now , off the top of my purple head, I think his solo during "While my guitar gently weeps (performed on VH1) with Eric Clapton is the best by far. He absolutely rips his purple axe apart. His solo begins about half way through a 5 min performance, and Prince steals the song like hes mad at his purple toy, then he finishes it by throwing his guitar into the crowd and walks off the stage directly after. Also, its notthe best solo, but during American Woman with Lenny in the Rave show(1999), Prince shows his playng ability against one of the better guitarist today (Lenny) with a sick solo. All of his solos give me chills and Im a grown ass man! God bless you Prince! Any purple hippies in Oklahoma? Please let me know, I have tons of music to share!

I don't know why,but I always get emotional when I hear the guitar solo at the end of Purple Rain. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

a classic . one of my favorite moments in music is when the solo gets going and p starts vocalizing, imitating his guitar ("ooh ooh hoo, ooh hoo oooh" ) and it taking off like, fucking genius . after the solo, you figure it's all done and here comes mica "it was ju-ust MY imaginati-o-on" . one of my favorite performances. i wish the whole show was circulating. those clips from that the prince of paisley park documentary kill me, i wanna see and/or hear the rest so bad! For all time I am with you, you are with me.

I guess I would stay by my choice of the Rock and Roll hall of fame...
