1st dance at wedding

just wanted to share my experience.im a massive fan of prince my then fiance thinks he is ok.any way we were organizing our wedding at gretna green scotland, when she said for our first dance can we have slow love.she had heard it in my car as i only have prince cds on,it must drive her mad.but she doesnt complain bless her.so i thought if we are going to do prince justice we both need dance lessons.the problem was time was short so we only had 2 hours of dance classes. we emailed the dj with our song request and on the wedding night performed our dance none of our guests had any knowledge of our 1st dance or lessons . we got loads of cheers and tears no one had heard of the song but they all love it now . recently we watched the dvd sign of the times when he sings slow love my wife watched it then said she really fancied prince . ill have to keep an eye on her when we go to croke park to see the wee man. biggrin
the man in the moon is smiling 4he knows what i'm dreaming of tonight is the night 4 making slow love.

I got married last year. Both my husabnd and I have been huge fans since high school. No, it was NOT a Prince themed wedding. But, our first dance was to Adore. We took the lyric "Love is 2 weak 2 define, just what U mean 2 me" and put it at the top of our invitations. I fought with the printing place because they kept changing the spelling back to normal. We also used some of the lyrics in our vows. Nobody caught that at all. No one, beside a couple of people, knew the song. People reacted funny when they heard it was by Prince though. They were concerned it wouldn't be "appropriate".
Peace. Love. Prince

i wish id thought of prince lyrics on the invites or ceromony,i did want to sing "forever in my life" on the karoke, but didnt have time to take the 500 lessons i would have needed to do it justice.i have since told my wife about that and she cried.

She cried because you can't sing well, or because she was touched by how romantic that is?

she cried over the sentiment plus the lyrics and also that as im quite a shy person that i was willing to get on stage .

My husband is the opposite of shy. He wanted to come into the ceremony and dance down the isle to "Prettyman". I wish I was over exaggerating.

My wife loves purple, so we had a purple wedding -- it was beautiful. The cake designer added purple flowers and flowing ribbons to our wedding cake -- I saw a picture of it on her site and she had named it "Purple Rain" without knowing about my past or present Prince-fanaticism. We played one or two Prince songs during the reception -- I know "Beautiful, Loved, and Blessed" was in rotation a couple times. But for our first dance we chose...

(I do swear that I'll always be there. I'd give anything
and everything and I will always care. Through weakness
and strength, happiness and sorrow, for better, for worse,
I will love you with every beat of my heart.)
From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on
From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love I'd give my last breath
From this moment on
I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you, can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

That song makes me cry just as much as Adore and we are using both...Adore for one of our first songs and from this moment when I walk down the isle(please pray, I will not cry)
Um... let me warm up my vocals
Me ME ME ME ME...U U U U U!
