Best Track Transition

prince

I was just chatting about this on the Org and thought I'd throw it out there 4 a general discussion.(pls 4give me if it's been covered many times B4 my post)

In your opinion, what is the the best track transition of any Prince album?

The first that came to mind for myself was off of Graffiti Bridge: "We Can Funk" into "Joy in Repitition" I love how it just hits hard right in2 P rappin': "He used to frequent this club..."

There's also the very seemless transistion from "I Would Die 4 U" into "Baby I'm a Star". In my view, either one of those songs just doesn't sound complete without the other!

One could make the arguement 4 the entire Lovesexy album, but that's kinda cheatin', id'n it?

Another classic would B "Lady Cab Driver" driving into "All the Critics Love U in New York". You got the cabbies beepin' in the background and then that wicked drum beat fades in. Awesome...

Anyway, you get the idea. I'm really interested to hear some of your thoughts and thanks in advance.

"Alfred jump up on the bed, c'mon!"
Jeffy in the T-Dot
"Maybe they gon' fool the untrained mind, but nobody eye know gon' bite..."

I absolutely love how the outtake version of "Can't Stop" segues into "We Can Funk." That's brilliant.

On Lovesexy live, I love how "Let's Go Crazy" turns into "When Doves Cry."

But on officially released albums, I would have to vote for "Life Can Be So Nice" going into "Venus de Milo." It's just so...wrong and yet so right. The juxtaposition is really great.

I like Curious Child to Dreaming About U razz. Next would be The Continental to Damn U...I also loved the flow of Parade's first 3 tracks.

I like "Ronnie, Talk To Russia" into the beginning of "Let's Work" on 1981's Controversy.

I'd go as far to add "I Wonder U" to that equation, it's a great segue. Didn't P record the drums the first couple tracks sequentially? Or the drums? I know I remember something about that...

"Ronnie Talk To Russia"/"Let's Work'' is a sweet transition. Love it.
And, dag, The Rainbow Children is one, non-stop, sweet mega-transition all CD long, ESPECIALLY moving is the transition from "The Everlasting Now'' to "Last December.'' Whoa.

It was the first 3 or 4 songs of Parade that were done in one go.I believe he just tapped the basic grooves on a drum with his fingers and then added actual drum sounds later.
And I also think this sequence is the best transition.
cool
