In A Large Room With No Light There was a thread up here not too long ago talking about how great a song this is, and it is! I love it to do death.
Quetion though, does anyone know who is playing the drums on this track? Is it Prince or Sheila?

i beleive this was around the charade/dream factory era so im leaning towards bobby z.but since it was never officially released its hard to say.unless someone around here has one of the legendary lost copies of the album complete w/liner notes
ps;does anyone have the lyrics to this song? "a body like yours oughta be in jail..it was on the verge of being obscene"

ps;does anyone have the lyrics to this song? No disrespect to Bobby Z., but I've never heard him play anything as complex as this which is why I assumed it was either Prince or Sheila. I could be wrong though.....

I thought Sheila did the drums on this. This is a good question. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I've always heard it was Sheila, and i never really doubted it just because it sounded like it would be her (if that makes any sense)
but yes, probably in my top 5 favourite prince songs incredible track and while i know looking for correct lyrics on the internet is a hard thing to do, these ones seemed the best that i could find: Lana drew a picture in school 2day One that made her mother cry A picture of a woman with a drink in her hand Standing by a child with no eyes Washington reaction based upon revenge Babies blown 2 kingdom come Damn the logic Cartoon characters look better when they're on the run Danny dropped the dime on his girlfriend He said he didn't wanna go 2 jail alone The seed lives in the same mind With the thought that says we all should be stoned And people lookin' 4 angels in the sky Whenever they're broken-hearted Love is grown, seeds are sown A fire don't burn unless it's started Did U ever feel that life was like lookin' 4 a penny In a large room with no light? A sophisticated man reduced 2 company in no-win situations That aren't right Everytime U wake up there's a little motherfucker Talkin' big stuff in your face (Are U happy?) U only get the kind of people that open their mouth just 2 swallow feet Welcome 2 the rat race Did U ever feel that life was like lookin' 4 a penny In a large room with no light? A sophisticated man reduced 2 company in no-win situations That aren't right Oh, if U could just pass your history class Maybe life would be alright Until then U'll be lookin' 4 a penny In a large room with no light Yeah! Life {repeat 2 fade} it sounds about right (minus the obvious, la-la's), hope to be corrected if necessary enjoy [Edited 5/30/08 13:16pm] [...i think i can, i think i can, i think i can...]

It's Sheila E. on drums.
It was recorded live in the studio on May 4th 1986 with a hybrid band of members from Sheila's band and The Revolution. The line was as follows... Wendy Melvoin - guitar Lisa Coleman - keyboards Levi Seacer Jr. - bass Sheila E. - drums Eric Leeds - sax Norbert Satchell - sax Atlanta Bliss - trumpet Susannah Melvoin - backing vocals

There is no 'Charade' era. Charade is just the name of a very old bootleg of Parade-era tracks.

One of my favorite unreleased tracks too. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.
