Crystal Ball, without a doubt. There's more in that one song than some people manage in an entire career. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

It is clearly "3 Chains O' Gold". That is just powerfully Prince all the way.
"Planet Earth" is simply stunning, but is more of a powerful rock ballad. "3 Chains O' Gold" has distinctive parts which contrast each other, like scenes, with dramatic differences between the parts. "Crystal Ball" doesn't seem like a Rock Opera 2 me, although I love the song. "He's a musician's musician..."

Well, yeah, Crystal Ball is superb, but if we're talkin' rock, well, 3 Chains O' Gold is the closest idea to a rock opera.

When it comes to rock-opera or symphonic, pompous rock... lol.. Three Chains of Gold is indeed Princes song that is most in that vein.
But, i wouldnt label it as best...Far from that... I mean, it sounds like some poor take on 'Bohemian Rapsody', laboured, forced, just like Prince hasn't got the slightest idea what he would or could do with that type of music. I agree Crystal Ball is BY FAR a better song, but its not rock-opera or symphonic rock, its more like a funk-improvisation, using jazzy and orchestral elements to jam on.
