As a prince fan what would you prefer a masterpiece every 4 years or a very average album every year. I suppose its part of his genius that he cant look at his own work objectively and say hey maybe I shouldnt be releasing everything I record or at least thats how it seems. I think prince needs to go through more of a editing process with his work and maybe work with other producers who will bring new ideas to his work and wont be scared to express their own opinon. Otherwise I just think he will start to become stagnant.

I have all of p's albums I consider them ALL to be masterpieces, I would'nt say any of them was average.

As they come. It's obviously the way he works as a musician. There used to be a time when an act would release an album every year or two at the most. Now you're lucky to get an album from a major artist every two years, very lucky. I'd take four albums over one any day.

As for outside producers id pass on that one as they're obviously gonna try and commercialise his music to sell units, although a Rick Rubin collaboration would be pretty darn interesting. I just think he needs more talented musicians around him, more creative ones, however we all know what happened there.

Really all his albums are masterpieces you must be a die hard prince fan to say that. I myself am more rational when it comes to princes work. So the vault old friends for sale, rave un2 the joy fantastic, the rainbow children,xpectation,cnote,News,the chocalate invasion, the slaughter house are masterpieces are they? alright then.

If he makes it, I want to hear it.

I want more, more, more...

I don't care about sales,radio play, or popularity.

He will have enough of that to allow him to do as he pleases the rest of his life.

I want to hear as much as possible,and I can decide what I want to listen to.

A song a day would be really nice.

He could do it and I would love it.

but there have been too many Emancipations. too many Rave's. too many 3121's. i guess as i've gotten older, i'm less rabid to hear absolutely everything he's currently doing. and i think the fact that there seems to be so much filler on his albums probably contributed to that somewhat.

Yes, in fact the vault old friends for sale is one of my favourites. I have been a fan for less than a year, I can honestly say I love all the cds and videos I have which would be about 60.He's an amazing artist.

I'd like to see him release a lot of music.

I know it's been hit or miss over the last 10 years. Still placing the music out there for the public to hear is what either makes it hit or miss.

When everythings released from the vault.. when theres like headless horseman galloping from the sky, maybe 2012. Then we will hear all the music. Have a little faith in Prince!!!

wether they r good or bad, i would like 2 hear everything in that vault. so if he decides 2 put out 3 discs of emanciaption every three months i would welcome it.

If as you say, Prince can't tell a masterpiece from average, then what does it matter?
As a songwriter, I think Prince can tell the difference. But how long do you wait between 'masterpieces"? It's not a function of not writing today so I have more creativity for the weekend. Songs and ideas just flow, some are better than others, and sometimes, you get a home run so restricting the output is not going to give you more masterpieces.
Also, what the song means to Prince, and what is means to someone else can be two different things. It may be precious to Prince and only average to someone else.
I trust his judgment.
I think Planet Earth was an album because he wanted the song Planet Earth out there. I think that's why it's subpar because it was just thrown together to put something out there.
Also, on a selfish personal note, he can empty the vault because I don't know how long either Prince or I are going to be here. I want to hear as much as I can while I can.
It doesn't keep me up yet but I worry about what happens to that music if Prince is deceased.

it always amazes me to see some of the comments within this forum...
