The guitar on Loose is sick. Papa is a cool-experimental track. The rest grew on me and I now consider Come a top Prince album...Love all the tunes...except Solo, that one blows.

One of the poorest Prince albums ever, qualitywise IMO.

Alltough there are some fine songs on it, with a rather melancholic, dark undercurrent (Papa, Dark, Letitgo), most of the other songs are weak compositions and / or rather performed on 'auto-pilot'.

And, in contrast what too some people here say, i think especially the more electronic material (Space, Pheromone, Loose, Race) sounds terribly dated and insignificant nowadays.

And when it comes to the title track: it sounds like an annoying (those 'sex effect sounds'), overlong throwback to a period (Dirty Mind / Controversy) i thought he had passed for years and years allready.

4 out of 10, more i can not make of it.

I love the album more than The Gold Experience! I say get it and you will be pleased.

Come: Okay old school "Prince is sooooo naughty song. Goes on a little long. I think it just ended a few hours ago. Song gives me unnatural thoughts about mashed potatoes.

Space: Great beat, nice music, cool vibe and some of the dumbest laziest lyrics ever put to paper


Pheromone: Funky Snoop Dog flavored track...should have been a single but just a tad too profane for radio.


Loose: Not too bad house jam. Hand banger. Great song to get sloshing drunk too.


Papa: Damn depressing.


Race:Heartfelt lyrics that go far but probably not far enough.


Dark: Nice ballad. Not a classic in my eyes but likeable.

Solo: Prince can sing and proves it but as a whole just a funeral dirge of a slog.

Letitgo: Love it. Nice introspective lyrics, funky backing track, should have been much bigger but the whole WB battle (and no video) tanked it.

Orgasm: Um...truth in advertising I guess.

2 1/2 stars out of 4...like it more on some days then others...definitely brings me back to the time it was released. Middle of the Prince album pack.

I love Come. How much more passion is on this record than say, Musicology or 3121?

He has something to say on this record, and he delivers each song with conviction. Dark is a beautiful, soul-rending ballad, Papa is one of his best 90s songs and Space is so dreamy...

There is something about Come which is slightly disturbing. I can't quite put my finger on it, whether it's the child abuse references on Papa, the ode to peeping-tom masturbation that is Pheremone or the creepy-ass funeral artwork... this record definately reveals a darker side to Prince's persona. Which is why I love it.

Compared to recent albums (Musicology, 3121...) it sounds cohesive, it sounds like he made the album with an intent rather than just being a selection of songs.

This feels like the flipside of Lovesexy, a proper "Black" album. Darksexy.

Also, the last song on Lovesexy, Positivity, ends with the sound of waves gently lapping.
Come starts with waves crashing, queue up the last song of Lovesexy to run into the first song on Come...
