"Irresistible Bitch" appreciation thread

Is it not a killer tune or what? Unbelievable rhythm section. Also, I believe this 1999 era B-side was Wendy's first appearance on a Prince record.
the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

listen to The Replacements - its good for the soul

nod B-side to the single "Let's Pretend We're Married" and Wendy's first guitar playing appearance on a Prince Record. I think she had some backing vocals on Free or another 1999 track or something.

Bangin' cut. Wendy's first debut was actually on the song "Free'.

Didn't know Wendy was actually playing guitar on this cut.

I don't know why but I've always loved the "bell" sound during the "everybody, everybody dance..." breakdown toward the end when he's using his low voice. Wicked... cool

This song is the reason I fell in love with his b-sides. I started collecting them all after hearing this one.

Well, there is guitar on the studio version; the b-side to Let's Pretend. The one that has Lisa and Wendy's backing vocals. But it's P playing the guitar along with everything else on the track.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Morris. I remember reading that IB, Tricky, Cloreen Bacon Skin and The Walk were all written 2gether and about the same time.

Morris played the drums. Those are real tubular bells Prince is playing, not computer samples.

Damn.... can I join your band??? smile Do you guys do the synth horns? If not. call me. smile

I learned about this song from the Purple Rain concert. So that version is THE Version in my book.

The b-side one is too..... slow..... not as funky. And it ain't got those synth stabs..... "25 times y'all!"

Ooh, this is one of my favorite b-sides! Anyone heard one of the initial, rougher cuts (I have it on The Work, a really basic version of Feel U Up segues into this track) ? P kind of screams/barks the lyrics, it's different, but interesting to listen to after hearing the polished, finished studio version that was eventually released.

Not to mention how it goes into "Possessed". Does that song exist in any other format than that video?

I don't think so. He did perform it again during the Hit and Run tour, but that was the last time I remember hearing it.

Yeah, I'd have to agree, I generally prefer listening to the more polished version of "Irresistible Bitch," but the demo version is definitely an interesting listen!
