Did Prince and Mayte have a name chosen for their child? Boy/Girl? Where is it burried? I know it died from Pfeiffer's syndrome but was it pre-mature? Girl or boy? Did they name it? Where is the baby burried? Do you think that was Prince's mighty downfall? [Edited 7/9/08 1:01am] I wanna b ur fantasy and maybe u could be mine!

No. I am to. Who said prince had a downfall. I think it made him a stronger person and i am so impressed with the way he dealt with it because it must have been really hard for him and mayte to go through that. Maybe their relationship changed a little like i read mayte said in an interview (dont think im allowed to post the link on here) but him as a person and his music..naa no ''mighty''downfall.

No you are not... but I think the thread starter meant no harm. The baby was cremated I believe, and it was more of a downfall to his marriage with Mayte. It must have been so painful to go through something like that. They both were very happy to be expecting a child of their own. Now its seems that both Prince and Mayte have decided not to have any children.

I had a friend who lost a baby. She didn't want 2 talk about it for a long time. I couldn't imagine having it be up for PUBLIC DISCUSSION. I agree with painted lady, tho. I don't think DaVanity meant any harm. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

This shouldn't really be up for general discussion - the death of a baby is always a private matter... but sadly, through experience, it does eventually get easier and can help you deal with feelings to talk about it. Plus the more people who are open about such happenings means that death does not become a taboo subject and those who are suffering don't feel alone....
This happening to anyone is sad, but to have to deal with it in the public domain is by far worse. Like someone said previously about their friend... it took me a while before I could discuss my feelings and the actual event openly, I still get upset now, a few years on. DaVanity - perhaps you could consider trying to get Prince's biography, 'Slave to the Rhythm'. Its covered sensitvely in there and is also a good read. I can't remember now who the woamn is who wrote it... I'm sure someone could help me out with that.... (will edit this when I get home if no one has posted her name!) [Edited 7/9/08 7:35am]

I have commented on this discussion before, and I have also ignored this discussion before. Although I am going to say something this morning.
First of all...I used to believe Hollywood stories...and as I got older, I don't believe any of them anymore...I really don't know what is truth...and I always keep that in the back of my mind, as I still hope to this day that this story is a lie. If this story is true, The baby lives in all of our hearts, as well as in the arms of the Father. When this news came, I was very sad, and grieved for a friend. Prince and Mayte have all of my compassion... "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I thought it was by the rules of the Org that we weren't supposed to discuss personal things like this. Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Of course its a sad story , noone is suggesting otherwise .
Why brush it under the carpet like it never happened

As far as public discussion's go...We all do go through things together. It wouldn't be fair...for the person that has been supportive of Prince's career and as a man...to celebrate the great things about his life...such as going to see "Purple Rain," or buying a new cd every year...and then assume...we would not grieve right beside him as well. We do. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I agree with this sentiment. Plus the fact that any death is sad and makes you think how people are coping and hopefully makes you say a little prayer for them to find the strength to get through the bad times.

Grieving with him is okay however they have moved on perhaps out of respect everyone else should. My problem here with this thread, first of all, is referring to their child as an "it" and asking where the child is buried. Why would anyone want to know or care about that? That's a privacy issue. As a fan of Prince's music I don't see how that's ANYONE'S business. to this thread. [Edited 7/9/08 7:49am]

Plus the fact that any death is sad and makes you think how people are coping and hopefully makes you say a little prayer for them to find the strength to get through the bad times. There's a big damn difference between saying a prayer for someone and going on an internet site to ask where their dead child is buried. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
