Playlist for my Grandma

Okay...so my mom is buying HER mom an ipod and she wants me to put music on it for her. She said, "you can even put Prince on it"
That pretty much opened up the floodgates of hell...

So can someone help me make a playlist of Prince music for her? She's like, seventy something and she likes Vandross, Four Tops, James, that kinda stuff. But no freaking in the bed kinda music, more like "dance with my father" or something.

I'm really bad at this, one time I made a playlist for one of my friend and it literally took hours. lol

Why not try some of the 70's funk inspired tracks given what she likes? Check the lyrics she normally listens to, most of those are probabaly about "love" as well, in one way or another... And I think Adore is fine, come on! How about some of the more spiritual songs like God, The Cross, etc? And some instrumentals (eg Venus de Milo)?

Hmmmmm,

Grandma is 70-something?

So when 1999 was released she was probabaly in her late 40's.
So she may be more familiar with early Prince stuff.

Maybe the more radio friendly hits and if you are in doubt ask Grandma if the song is acceptable. Maybe set up the playlist with her so she learns how to use her IPOD.

Lots to pick from.

Most Beautiful Girl in the World, the jazzy remix stuff of the single
La, La, La,Means I Love You
Betcha By Golly Wow
Beautiful Loved and Blessed
And God Created Woman
Walk, Don't Walk
Purple Rain
1999
Little Red Corvette
Kiss

The choices are endless. Check with her to see what she wants is the best bet.

Give her credit...never under estimate someone. Besides, it's nothing offensive about Adore or Condition. If it were, I never would have listed them.

I'd put Venus de Milo, Get Blue (if you can find it), Everywhere, Nothing Compares to You, Reflection, Somewhere Here on Earth, God Created Woman, Forever in my Life on there. Steer clear of "Me Touch Myself" LOL

lol. She's not made of glass...and she has, like, six or seven kids, I doubt "was I the first" will shock her.

But I think I have enough right now, so thanx again.

Over 70?

I am mostly going for the 'easy listening' and 'not too raunchy' modus with these:

Baby
With You
Why don't you call me anymore?
Take me with you
Condition of the heart
The tears in your eyes
Venus de Milo
Do you lie?
Slow Love
The Arms of Orion
Diamonds and Pearls
Strollin
Sweet baby
Betcha By Golly Wow
Courtin Time
La la la, means I love You
I love you, but i don't trust you anymore
The entire One Nite alone (piano and voice) album
Call my name
Reflection
Beautifull, Love and Blessed
Somewhere here on Earth

try some instrumentals...like Arboretum (love it)

then maybe something somewhat mellow, but clean, like...hmmmm. Don't Talk
2 Strangers or Money Don't Matter 2Night

ew, ew, how about my personal favorite song of all times...When The Lights Go Down
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

mountains
somewhere here on earth

'La La Means I Love You' was originally done by the Delfonics, not the Stylistics. Prince did cover a Stylistics song too though, 'Betcha By Golly Wow'
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

She's not retarded...she's just old.
And she's a nice lady...It's more for me than her. For All I know she might be bumpin' to Snoop Dogg as we speak. I just don't wanna give my own grandma a bucnh of filth.

Yeah. The "nice" playlist is mainly for ME because I would feel weird giving my Grandma Dirty Mind or some shit. And she'd probably dig it, because she likes funk as well. Based off of my MOM'S taste in music, she would love it. Assuming that's where my mom got it from.
But I know she likes more..."pretty" songs, too, I guess thats the way to put it. And that's what I'm aiming for. I want to give her something "nice" lol
