IMO it is one his of worst albums ever.

On the surface: the more organic, quasi-live approach of the music, might sound as a welcome change from the plastic production of New Power Soul and Rave, but when i listen further this album it lacks just as much soul as the two albums mentioned before.

I hear an artist brainwashing himself with religious dogma's, an insecure fellow who lets himself carry away by JW-crap. A person who feels like he can preach to 'us', while the things he is saying are utter nonsense.

I dont hear his heart in this music, the 'darth vader' voice is very annoying, the lyrics are really cringeworthy. and the music itself isn't reallly that refreshing (way too much seventies jazz-rock superficiality).

Together with New Power Soul, this album ranks as the worst Prince album ever.

Perfect my feelings exactly,
but its cool we cant all agree on everything right cool

Absolutely!

Another thing that's got me, is why it took sooooo many years, and soooo many albums for Prince to tackle the subject!! Does he really personally feel so strongly about it, or had he just run out of ideas and just wanted to create a bit more controversy?
