If there was ever a harbinger that UTCM would be a failure it had to be that Lisa Barber of Sheridan, Wyoming won that contest and Prince had to premier his new movie in a tiny Holiday Inn with a bunch of ranch hands.

Wonder if Lisa still listens to Prince? Actually, I remember reading a short interview with her after the fact where she admitted she was really a Motley Crue fan more than a Prince fan.

My parents did the same to me with both Janet and Prince. For Janet, the RN tour was in Dallas the same weekend we were visiting family. I called one of those independent ticket companies and they were selling upper balcony seats for $75 per ticket. I asked my parents to take me and they refused. I asked to just drive me by the arena so that I could say I saw the crowd...and they refused. It upset me then (and still does). It's not that they couldn't afford it, my parents are the type of people that feel that concerts are a waste of money. Why go when you can watch the videos and listen to the cds (I'm sure some of you have heard that also).

I still have a newspaper clipping about this. I am from a town that is not to far from Sheridan Wyoming...so of course it was in the paper where I am from. I was a touch upset that he was so close to me..and I was unable to get there to see him.
