In terms of artistic achievement and commercial potential I'd say it was SOTT. If that album had been marketed properly ("If I Was Your Girlfriend" as the 2nd single???) and Prince had toured America he could have sold 2 to 3 times what it actually sold at the time. And for a double album that would have put it in the Purple Rain realm. And artistically its superb. the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

He hasn't, the movie combined with that song (I'm not saying it's my #1) make it the defining p song, when he's in that alley and that girl is crying and the crowd is screaming still touches me every time i watch it.
