Question About Sign of the Times

I'm doing a scrapbook project for school, and I'm allowed to include lyrics in it as long as they're kept at a PG-13 level. Do you think Sign of the Times fits that category?

No I do not. PG-13...should not, include the idea of introductions to drugs..even though that is the case.

It doesnt advocate the use.It warns of the dangers.

I say go for it.

I would say the song SOTT is bang on the PG13 definition - references to drugs but not graphic descriptions/images of drug use and no swearing at all! Some other songs on the album might not squeak through PG13 though!

SOTT is a great choice because it was out in 1987 and yet if you read the lyrics you could believe they were written 20 years later in 2007 they describe problems which are still so relevant. Depends what your project is about but you could use a lot of news clippings and things from this year, and then make the point it was written 20 years ago and the problems haven't been solved...

... oooh maybe i missed my calling as a teacher (NOT!!!).
You might not like the taste but I'm still gonna stick your face in this FUNK

I'm working on a senior anthology for high school as my last project of the year. you can pretty much include whatever you want as long as it's school-appropriate.

Yes, but...I still don't know what horse is...and if a curious teenager goes looking for that answer...the conversation he/she finds...can be found in the midst of people that know a lot about drugs, and before you know it...experimentation can begin earlier than it may have."

I realize that the individual will, is what makes someone walk away from drugs...however, some people get hooked, on something, at some point they tried."

I can say, that when I have tried to quit smoking cigarettes's, the quit smoking commercials, only reminded me to smoke."

never 2 early 2 educate kids about drugs.
it's not being glamourized in this song. it sends a very cool message.

In 1987 when I was in high school I painted lyrics from
the song Sign O The Times on a t-shirt and wore it to school.
All that happened was that a bunch of kids laughed at it

Use it. I am a teacher myself and think it's perfect. Fore-warned is fore-armed. Ignorance is more dangerous.

I used The Cross instead.

Maybe if I feel like getting up early tomorrow morning, I can use SOTT too.

For goodness sakes - you were already addicted to the nicotine (which can I add is a lot more addictive than Heroin-horse- studies have shown nicotine hits the brain quicker than heroin which means it is highly addictive - but I suppose govt gets dem-dare taxes on cigarettes) I DIGRESS - SORRY -

If you were to sit and watch the stop smoking ads whilst being a non-smoker would that have made you 'experiment' with nicotine????

Oh and not too sure what level PG13 is (13 year olds???) But YES I think Sign of the Times would be a brilliant song to use with lyrics very relevant still today....
