Has this concert ever been released on DVD - or has it been resigned to the history books.

I remember seeing it broadcast - about time it got a proper release.

I believe some good transfers from laser disc to dvd are floating around in the purple underground.

deserves a dvd release, was a great show.

No, it's never been officially released on DVD,
it was only officially released on video and Laserdisc.

I have this and Sign O The Times (rare japanese import) on Laser disc. I have over 50 laser discs in my collection, but these are probably the most played. They both look and sound amazing on laser disc, I would think much better than any DVD transfer.
I'm happy I have them.

Am I right in saying that when it was first released on video it came out as a double pack, with a volume 1 & 2??

Is that a more complete version of the concert than the single video released later?

No. I do not believe you have your eyes open. A single release is equally as significant.

I have some other shows from this tour on dvd & vhs. All were much better shows than Syracuse. Largely because all of the shows where much earlier in the tour so Prince and the band was still very hyped and still fresh. Plus all of these shows were all packed houses. The crowd were in a frenzy, literally screaming at every single move Prince made. The Syracuse show was late in the tour, the band was tired. Prince didn't play nearly as long as he did on other dates. I have some shows where Prince played I Will Die 4 U/Baby I'm A Star for damn near 30 minutes. Same with the song Purple Rain. Prince's guitar solo would be longer than the whole song from the Syracuse show.

I've done a bit of searching on the t'internet.

Looks like an original double pack was released in 1985.

I have a DVD copy a friend made for me with a cool photo cover and credits. Not official but could easily pass. I have the VHS somewhere.

There probably were better purple rain shows, but this is the highest quality because it was professionally filmed for tv.

I have the single release myself. I didnt not like the mirror thing they did with WDC, it annoyed me either way.

i cough*taped*cough the concert when it was telecast live to Oz- and taped over it when i won a copy of the vhs release- b4 i played it and saw the mirror image thing

IMHO it didnt ruin the entire concert just ...well....the song(WDC). It annoyed me so much I literaly have to bypass that song everytime.
