this is one of the reasons i DONT participate in a serious thread about music http://prince.org/msg/7/270432 i remember a few weeks back, Nurse started a thread saying she wasnt feelin'the new Prince jam he sang on Jay Leno and an orger jumped in that thread and condemned her for sayin'that... how can you have a productive, objective healthy conversation about his music when you have ppl attacking you for what you like or dislike as far as his music? if you say you dislike the PE album, you hear critcism for not liking it..., i mean really, only a mature person with an 'open' mind can you talk to about his diverse genres of music....we all have different tastes and there's nothing wrong with that...and if you dont like some of his stuff, it's perfectly normal.... and then you have people here who have knowledge on stuff but some of them you cant talk to either ..cause..they resort to berating, condescending and name calling people in the conversation over some difference with another orger.. ..thinking they are 'above' others for what they know (the big 'I' and the little 'u' mentality)... so.. when people are more mature and open to listen and respect others (RESPECT, a big issue in this forum) in this forum, im sure it will grow.... and i think we should all respect, be patient and make room for the newbies cause they want to learn too about Prince ... This is absolutely the best post I have ever read-nicely said  . thankies
.. i think we should post in threads that we like, e.g. if someone starts a thread about 'Erotic City' then all those who love that song post in it.. if u dont like Erotic City, avoid the thread.. there are threads in different forums that ive never even clicked on...never ...that would eliminate alot of contention | |

I was simply dumbfounded as to what makes a sticky these days. Threads full of bollocks with only about 6 people contributing are all over the place these days. I was simply asking why this one warranted a sticky. It was clearly going nowhere, and receiving very little attention from the general population. The mods actions mystified me. Stickying it, pulling someone up for going off topic, yet allowing post after post of off topic drivel from some orgers go unchecked. So I thought I'd ask the question. Not suprised it went unanswered though. It was clear . |

As much as this is an 'open' site, and you should keep it that way, i agree that I too often see threads here about Princes face, eyes, hair, body, hands, feet, his appearance in blue, white, red, purple clothes etc.
As a fan of his music in the first place it can get kind of annoying here. And, sometimes it makes me think: we should have a special section for women and gay men who want to 'rave' about his looks, or who want to 'gossip' about his lovelife. On the other hand, I appreciate the 'openess' of this site, if some people want to act like giggling adoscelents, its fine with me... lol I mean, i just dont click on the threads which titles indicate something banal, and on another fan-site (Housequake.com) i can often find more intelligent debates related to Princes music... The only thing that can really turn me off here, is when you start a rather serious topic, and some attention whore like 'Imago' or 'IZBI' (whatever his or her name is) comes up, trying to derail the subject, and trying to draw attention to himself, rather then to discuss the subject. But hey, just like in real life, i try to ignore people like that. | |
