When it comes to issues like this, I'm a great believer in messageboards being reflective of those that use them.
I don't mean that in a critical way, to be clear. There was a thread not so long ago about the philosophy behind Prince's music, one I thought was going to be a great debate and contributed to. It died after my contribution (must have been something I said) and only 19 replies. If people here were really interested in such things, that wouldn't have happened. Simply, there's more of an interest amongst the users here in Prince's image, footwear, hats, suits, girlfriends and the fact he's lucky enough to seemingly never age than most things. We all love a new rumour, a new CD or live performance, and I'd imagine the vast majority on here love his music in some way, but I'd also say the vast majority are not really able to go beyond that and truly analyse the way Prince composes his art. Such things take time, an understanding of the finer nature of music and the craft, a lot of sacrifice and energy, and when all the family and "real life" pressures are present, that's just something you're not able to fully commit to. The diversity of interests, the excitement around things I just don't get (footwear? c'mon!) and the massive activity on this board compared to others I use are the reasons I keep coming back. I just feel, if people weren't so interested in the supposed "shallow" things, they wouldn't post about them. Such is the nature of this messageboard, and just like in other aspects of life, no one is forced to read anything on here. Anyway, who gets to decide that a thread about Prince's latest suit isn't as interesting as one about whether or not the Batman album was a first for Prince in terms of he way he used sampling? Each to their own, I say. We don't want a board where the mods decide what we can talk about, do we?? (was that too serious for this thread??) So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

Yes I posted on the shoe thread
I mean lets not make it that we have to be serious, philosophcial and deep all of the time, but it just seems that lately there are an awful lot of nonsense threads.....things made for the sake of having something to do Im not a long time resident of this forum....but I've noticed the lack of.....ummmmm...substance lets say PRINCE IS WATCHING U " When an Artist Creates, whatever they create belongs to society"

I think there are places on the net where they're belive they're more "serious" and focused on Princes music than here, but this place is much lighter, creative and fun. Maybe not always to be taken to serious

I kind of expect it right after Prince has become visable again and a lot of newbies log on, we get the same old 'is he gay' crap. But I don't expect it from long time adult orgers.

Maybe not always to be taken to serious It's true, we all have very busy lives, not all of us are musicians / technicians, but still LOVE the music, and joy it brings into our lives. I think one of the great things about the org. whether we're discussing shallow, silly things or more 'interesting' aspects of his work, are that we all admire and respect Prince (well most of us!!) and it's somewhere we can share those feelings and thoughts!! I think it's supposed to be FUN mostly!

Hey theo...I don't have any alter accounts...aren't mine unusual enough on their own? I really don't think I would make Prince's moderators go crazy chasing me around...that is why I rarely leave this room. I am trying to slowly introduce myself and my potential...I Love Prince, but that is seperate from trying to earn trust. I want to work for Prince, even if it's 500 miles away. Okay? Forgive my goofiness....I try to have fun with exaggerating love. It's harmless...I don't have jumponPrince in me. [Edited 5/16/08 6:14am] "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I think it's supposed to be FUN mostly! Sometimes i log on and look around in despair at all the rubbish threads and go visit P&R and sometimes i log on and post on all the rubbish threads and make a few of my own! its all part of the fun of the org. The daft threads can be fun as there are so many witty people here but what i find really interesting is to read humorous or just plain daft posts from orgers on M&M and then go visit P&R to find the same orger in deep discussion about something. M&M can have some really good threads like the rolling stones gig debate over race etc and sometimes in depth discussions about riffs or such like (which means little to me). I love the caption threads - you people kill me and i love the story threads - hey we havent had one of those for a while. I think peeps post on the shoes threads cos theres little else to discuss at the time and we all like talking to each other as we all have one thing common - Prince! in a world that appears mostly Prince-less on a daily basis. I guess occasionally we run out of things to discuss about Prince and when theres been a quiet episode after a real hectic one thats only natural like this year after last. But then he goes and does some stuff and announces gigs and the org gets wild again - for a while. PS Tames always made sensitive threads she doesnt make silly threads just unusual ones but most of her threads get really well discussed and reach several pages! Having said that there are those in here who know who they are!!! that post REALLY stupid stuff for the sake of it - but then the orgs made up of all folks of all ages! PPS why is this a sticky? even the mods are bored with the posts? [Edited 5/16/08 6:38am] walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous
