He's telling us to appreciate ourselves and love ourselves NOT be full of self loathing.. While I think he did ok by "Best of You," I appreciate the sentiment of this post. It's bad enough that you try to cover but then to futz with the lyrics like some teenager is unforgivable and shows a bit of tonedeafness on Prince's part for totally missing the point of the song.

Well, Well, Well, I have just managed to hear this or see it, although there was little to see, this is one of my top ten fav songs from the 90´s and is without doubt one of the best songs of the 90´s to boot.
I have often wondered what certain songs covered by Prince would sound like, but this was definately not one of them and after hearing it once, my opinion has not changed. The guitar work was great as one would expect, just a pity that he did not have Thom Yorke doing the vocals or at least try one of his more darker vocal ranges. On a positive note though, it is good to see that someone like Prince appraoching 50, has got a great taste in music  If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

There is one very interesting thing about this thread. One person hears one thing from one song and another person hears something completely different from the same song. I think that's what makes music so incredible, we all have our own ideas about what a song means to us.
As for the 2 different versions of "Creep", I dig them both. Radiohead's version is more raw, and Prince's is more mellow. I can listen to both and be satisfied. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |
