I guess they say that we all interpret things differently...What are some of your thoughts? I know the song isn't about..tearing someone up in the bedroom. Clouds bleed water...Flowers bleed fragrance...Hearts bleed love. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

hope that helps. I don't believe that whatsoever!!! fair enough - but have you looked at the lyrics...about the bed, being banned, making you bleed. its always up to the eye of the beholder, but i find the sick, dirty prince more entertaining, especially adds so much more to what is musically a pretty tame song. Wouldn't you love to love me?

It's about Prince telling a woman that he was just using her and leading her on when all he wanted to be was friends ("we can never be more than friends"). Now he wants to be free ("turn me loose") because he has already found someone else, and he couldn't think of a more painful and humiliating way to tell the woman than to write a song and perform it on national TV.
He thinks the new woman is, of course, much better than the former woman and to make things even more painful he adds in little details about the new sex life he is having with the new woman, how hot it is, and how much more satisfying sex is with her.("the board behind your head's about to be split in two") Also he through in the little dig about how the former woman is a horrible dancer ("speaking of which you better learn to dance, or never come back again"), he probably sits around with his friends and makes fun of her, apparently the new woman can dance. The most important part of the song is that he wants the former woman to leave him alone "Turn Me Loose"! That's what it is about. It's really mean and cruel. It's obvious that he can't have as rough sex as he wants with the woman he's with. Any man that tells a woman "if you really love me, you'll give me what I need" is a demanding/sefish asshole that any woman in love should run away from, so of course he's being very mean. Turn me loose, on the other hand, could aswell mean that the woman's got to loosen him up and be more "sexually available" if she want to be with him... Not sure about the " you got to learn how to dance" part...does he really sing that? Doesn't he sing "you need a lots of them (friends)? Well, I really hope that he have found a woman that pleases his needs by now [Edited 5/13/08 7:28am]

I think the reference to anal sex is basically like Prince saying "Yes, I used you. Yes, I f'd over you. Yes, I made fun of you and humiliated you... And all you can do is bend over and take it!"
And IF Prince was giving this woman what SHE needed....I believe she would prabably break her back trying to give him what he needed in return. So Prince must not be doing a very good job of keeping her happy. Cruelty, infidelity, lies and abuse will get you nothing. If Prince is not being satisfied perhaps he should look in the mirror and ask himself how he could be better. Karma don't play. [Edited 5/13/08 9:24am] PaisleyRose was here

"Turn Me Loose" I believe is a similie. A figure of speech.
It's like letting an animal out of a cage...Ya know...A Bull coming after a female matadore. The blankets are red. And that's what He wants to throw on the floor. Prince sings a good story...but Ya know he's a scaredy cat really. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Anyway, it's just an emotion - and emotions must be let out to disappear. Otherwise they'll tear you up inside. Artists are very blessed when it comes to this.
Well, I hope that Prince feels better now - it was brave what he did... [Edited 5/14/08 1:26am]
