1. Yes

2.She isn't extremely well known like Annie Leibowitz, but she's certainly done her fair share of celeb pics. She's a favorite photog of Prince's, for certain, and she's definitely taken many fan favorite pics.

I guess what I meant was, obviously the prince camp would describe her as celebrated. I just wanted to know if anyone else of note had too.

Google works for me. shrug wink

anyway, this is one of the coolest things Prince has done in a long time

The way I read it: the cd will also be availabe to retail, but the track "3121" is exclusive to the cd-which-comes-with-the-coffee-table-book...

This is all great news, but the fact it's on order doesn't necessarily mean it's a sure thing. Amazon was selling pre-orders of a book I never even signed the contract to write a few years ago, and for another book I did write they were accepting pre-orders before I'd even finished writing it. Not to rain on anybody's parade, but I'll truly believe it when I see it. It might well be that Prince has yet to write the poetry we're all looking forward to.

Photo's are nice but just 1 CD for 21 nights!?
I know he appeared only 2/3 of those nights but this CD is a very small selection of what happened there and then.
Others already recognised the market that is there.

So: does this give mr P a reason to bitch about boots?
Or does it show he does not understand the market?

Does anybody else find the wording interesting in that it says

"21 nights - a live sessions CD which also contains new music by Prince"

Because, the way I read that, my understanding would be a live CD with maybe some new studio songs on it, too.

Or, that some of the live tracks will be new songs that haven't yet been released in a studio format (and not necessarily from the aftershows)

No, the whole "Indigo Nights" CD is exclusive to the coffee table book.
It won't be sold separately.

I think Udo might have meant two thirds of the nights, not two or three. But if they did mean 2 or 3, then they are way off, he was there at 7 of the 9 I went to. cool

Maybe because it's a track we recognise and so will non fans who wouldn't be so interested to hear new stuff. Not everyone's as crazy as us, always after new versions and recording. lol

I think this is all just PR marketing speak, they are selling a book in concept not necessarily in production yet, although if its mostly pictures theres no reason it shouldnt be in production. I would guess timeframe-wise that it is already written and in production at pre-press stage, i doubt they would want it to print too early and get leaked before it goes on sale.

The ambiguous music thing - i wouldnt read too much into that either, they need to cover all bases with regard to content and have probably been given a loose brief as to what exactly Prince wants on there. they obviously have the indigo2 recordings and need to choose etc and maybe he has a few new tunes in mind but i doubt it will press until nearer the time as well.

Does anyone know, or would anyone like to take a wild guess as to why there are 2 books of the same name on Amazon's UK site? One is released on Sept 1st and one on Sept 9th.
You can pre-order the Sept 1st one, but can only sign up to be notified of the release of the Sept 9th one.
The Sept 1st one has no artwork visible, but the other has the cover page we've all seen.
Will there be two versions of the book released, or it it just some strange and unexplained publishing anomaly? hmmm
There is a crack, a crack in everything - that's how the light gets in.

HUZZZAAAHHH!! 3121 live! Yes yes - the first London show I went to was August 10th and I damn near went mental when P opened the main set with this number. Whooped me own voicebox out of the balcony and left the venue after 3am sounding like a male Mariella Frostrup. Full on smile

UK/International edition September 1st, US Edition September 9th. I work in a bookshop, not for the publishers, but this is a Common Trend. Most international editions of titles have a 'not for sale within the United States' disclaimer on the cover, and most UK distributors come back to you with a note saying 'rights restricted' when you try to order a US edition. Why they bother listing them on the database in the first place is beyond me.

Masterful composer, multi-faceted musician, international megastar and cultural icon?Prince?presents his first book, 21 NIGHTS, a stunning multi-media volume offering a rare glimpse into the life, lyrics, and mystique of one of the most notable and prolific performers of our time. This beautifully designed photographic essay flows from Prince's sensational, unprecedented, record-breaking, sold-out 21 concerts in 21 nights at London's O2 Arena in 2007. Juxtaposing his dueling worlds of music and solitude, it will incorporate Prince's evocative poetry and lyrics to new songs and other selections, and 124 full-color, sumptuous, never-before-published images by celebrated photographer Randee St. Nicholas. As part of the dimensional experience, it will also feature "Indigo Nights," a CD capturing Prince's speak-easy, after-hours, raw, live after-show sessions of pure unadulterated jams. For the first time in 21 NIGHTS, Prince is seen behind the scenes. Randee St. Nicholas, renowned for her rich visuals, deft touch, and distinctive style, was given access to Prince's life and career, providing a nuanced and unparalleled view of the artist, accompanying him onstage, backstage, and into his sleeping quarters. "Indigo Nights," which includes the live version of the song "3121," will not be available in any other format. [source: official press release Atria Books] The book jacket is printed with a black and silver duotone paper-over-board. It will be elegantly sealed in a purple slip case with foil stamping and then shrink wrapped for protection.

Its amusing they call the live sessions CD from 'O2 after-parties' I'm sure they were originally sold as Aftershows when I bought my Indigo tickets, but then when Prince didn't turn up and play at a few they renamed them After-parties as fans were annoyed that they thought they were buying aftershow tickets, which in Prince terminology means a gig/jam at 2am.

surely the Indigo Nights cd will be boring just like It Ain't Over, he'll chose exactly what we don't want as well as songs with guests on lead vocals. There were so many great performances of great songs during the ONA aftershow (calhoun square, beautiful strange etc anyone?) but he choose some boring long jams (Peach, Girls & Boys)..... sad

Why am I feeling like his unprecedented access documentary will be nothing more than the strange, awkward, dishonest vanity piece ala Oprah Winfrey's interview with him?

Other than the aftershow CD, the rest of it sounds meh....

I know somebody I'd love to get this for though. mushy
