Any Breakups Over Prince????

I took a boyfriend to a couple of concerts...He's never been the same.....fussing over Prince and angry as you know what....It messed him up somehow....How can a man be upset over a guy up on a stage???? Maybe just very very insecure??? He never was before....Is the Prince experience different for men??? I think many couples get along just fine on here when someone likes Prince and his music.....Has anyone gone through anything close to what I have??? "Why don't you just spend all your money and chase Prince all over the world!!!" eek Shocking. I had a boyfriend that thought Pamela Anderson was the bomb.....The girl is gorgeous I put her pictures up to inspire me.... I never flipped out over her.....---...He's still mad!!! Since Musicology.....amazing.....and very sad. A big disapointment.... sad

I can empathize with you on this one. I am a shy person normally but at Prince concerts... lets just say things happen to my body that I have no control over! This is hard to explain to men. lol

hey, its a logical/legit reason to break up with someone lol

I wouldn't call this story a break-up because WE WERE NEVER TOGETHER

Last year, there was a guy who found me thru Facebook who seemed interested in my work... turns out he was interested in me as well rolleyes
We talk on AIM for months (keep in mind that I was just getting in2 Prince at the time, so naturally I mentioned him quite a bit... especially since one of my works was inspired by him)...
After that, when we'd talk on AIM, he was psychoanalyzing me... and I was always speaking my mind much like I do here... the timing was all wrong. It could have worked pre-Prince.

Later, it seemed like he was interested in a relationship outside friendship. I didn't think he understood how I feel about Prince at all disbelief

And I sure couldn't music chill with the music with the thoughts of him saying that I say that I agree with some of Prince's views on politics and religion.

Long story short, he thought when we hung out, I wasn't being as open as I am on AIM rolleyes and that I had this issue of not being able to express myself openly in person. Annoyed the hell outta me disbelief
Finally, a couple of Facebook messages later, he said "there's no chemistry between us" and hadn't heard from him since.

Well, DUHH! I wanted nothing to do with him. I didn't like him more than a friend at all disbelief

All because of Prince. Truth be told, I'm off the market for now while I figure out the kind of person I am inside and out. But my guy had better be a fan of Prince and like his music just as much as I do.
Another thing that I'm very picky about lol but hey, at the time, Prince was the newest and biggest thing going on in my life. How was I supposed 2 know something like this was gonna happen?

And if its all the same, I'd rather forget it ever happened hmph!
I've already had bad luck with guys b4 Prince came along. lol

Truth is, I wouldn't break-up a real relationship
over a "fantasy", and that's what I liken "fandom" to.
shrug
With that said,
My boyfriend beats Prince's butt any day!!! love

I had a date that took me to a Prince concert and I ditched him, he was acting very strange...he was disappearing from time to time and then almost getting in a fight, I think he was on something that I could not relate to, so I ditched him and never took his calls again!

He almost ruined my night with Prince "how dare he"
As long as we keep our luv strong we'll never shed no tears

Its hard being with someone that doesn't like Prince...U be all getting into the concert and you look at your girl and there she is looking bored as can be... It kind of takes the fun out of it... You want to go all night and they look like they are ready to leave...

My hubby looked at me during the shows at the O2 like I'd lost my mind!!!

He also thinks I'm 'obsessed' now, it's strange because the other night we were watching a band, very good, and I said "Ah, but remember the Prince aftershow", and he said "Yes, one of the best nights of my life!" I was really in shock, because he never says things like that, and always gets kind of 'annoyed' when I mention Prince (which I must admit is quite a lot these days lol ).

I think he's a tiny bit jealous, but... I wish I could just share my enthusiasm with him, watch dvd's, listen to the music, but he seems to see it as a threat...just tonight I said 'let's watch an ahem 'recent' dvd - you've GOT to see this, and he said "I'm already watching something!" So here I am on the org..... you see how it goes?

I'm hoping when we go to the Boat Party, and Dublin, and he meets all you lovely people he'll relax a bit cool

My hubby came with me to 2 of the 02 shows, mainly I think to stop me from crawling into one of the flight cases, or trampling several fans to death in order to get closer to P and getting myself arrested lol
However, even tho he thinks I'm ever so slightly unhinged worship when it comes to Prince, I don't think he finds it threatening.
I've been a Prince fan since 1981, and I met hubby in 1982, so our relationships have run in parallel for over 25 years.
He wouldn't dream of coming on the boat with me in June, or to Ireland the weekend after, that's for me and the girls to enjoy yay! He's just gonna do the baby-sitting and welcome me home with open arms on my return. Aww, bless!
Some men are happy with who they are, and aren't threatened by someone who could never be a threat to them or their relationship.
There is a crack, a crack in everything - that's how the light gets in.

I never broke up with anyone over Prince but I had some arguments with an ex over him because she said Jacko was a better performer and musician disbelief

Anywho I hadn't heard from her in ages until last summer. I had just got back from the aftershow on the 7th of August and there was a message on my phone.

and I quote

'V long time no speak. Hope ur well. Just had 2 tell U, U win! I've just been to see Prince and it was the most amazing night ever!! I could cry! I assume ur going to see him?

Nice to finally settle the argument I feel! lol

I had tickets to the Musicology tour in '04. Pretty good seats in the seventh row. Anyway, my ex ran into some freinds right as we were walking in and traded away our tickets so we could sit next to these friends...who were about 20 rows behind our original seats. That lead to a major fight and pretty much the end of the relationship.

So word of advice to all of you orgers...never, never, NEVER let a non-fan hold on to your tickets! lol

You know what....there is just something about a man and how he views Prince and women and how we view him. And it does not matter what walk of life you are from that this happens. I was watching an award show and Prince was performing. (it was a recent one) Beyonce and JayZ were in the audience. The camera hit on them while Beyonce was clearly taken and then the brief look on JayZ as he watched her watching Prince was PRICELESS!! Then they showed them again and she had calmed down considerably. It was so funny to me. I think they get jealous or something. I don't know. I have not dated anyone yet that understands the way I feel about him. Some have come close but not completely. I say hey, just sit back and enjoy what he does to me. Reep the benefits. Especially if "We can funk" is playing wink

I feel sad for you, Madison88. Why can't some men respect one's love for Prince and his music? disbelief And if they can't stand Prince, be honest about not wanting to go the concerts with you.

Well, not quite a breakup, but plenty of arguments!!

My husband can't stand Prince but came to the O2 with me, he just sat there like a wet weekend, didn't even stand nor dance. I think he was like eek at me as I just morphed into some kind of freak when Prince came on & danced like a woman posessed! I went six more times after this with people from the Org (he had first refusal, but chose not to come) & sulked everytime I went. Even now, months later, during arguments, he says 'you went to see Prince 6 times with strangers from the internet' blah blah.....bored 'It's not normal to go that many times....' Never mind the fact that he has a season ticket to a Premiership club & goes to both home & away games, is that normal???

He is coming to the boat party with me, so if you hear cries of 'man over board' you know why!

I always say that it is not about him loving Prince, but loving the person who loves Prince!
