Has there ever been interviews from past or current band members about Prince's auditioning process???

I would love to hear about how musicians hear about him auditioning new band members.

Has there ever been a topic about the way Prince goes about hiring musicians???

I read how Dez auditioned to get in the band from the excerpt from his book that was on his website. A book that I STILL HAVEN'T FUCKING GOT YET EVEN THOUGH I ORDERED IT OVER 3 MONTHS AGO!!! But that's an entirely different subject, I'm talking about Prince's audition process. Not Dez delivering his book wayyyyy past C.P. time!!!

Someone I recently met and befriended was telling me that he had gone to a funeral and found out that we was related to Miko Weaver. So he went to some gigs and rehearsals and was playing around with the band one night. My friend ended up playing the bass for him and got a call like a year later to back up Mazarati because something happened to their bass player. He said he learned alot and met the Prince fam of musicians and is still like brothers with a few. He said that Miko told him that he had to really lay it out there, play to the extreme best of his ability and don't hold anything back. He and Prince were playing bass together almost like a duel.

I think he goes to them. He hears about this good drummer or that good bass player and then checks them out personally. That's why you hear about him showing up in clubs just sitting in the back listening or even joining the bands to jam...he gets a feel for their talents. Then after if he likes what he hears he or he has his people contact the musicians to see if they wouldn't mind getting together to play.

At least I think this is how he does most of his hiring.

You're right my friend! If a woman has the desired look she doesn't have to be able to play a music-instrument and she doesn't even have to be able to sing. She will still make it into the band if she knows how to play Prince's personal instrument.

the only account i can remember is prince putting a ad in the paper and that's how dez and fink got hired.

rhonda, kat dyson got hired via sheila putting a word 4 them

john blackwell got hired because prince saw him on patti labelle's tour

mike phillips got snatched from jill scott
