aren't entirely correct). The version of Crystal Ball included on the 1998 "Crystal Ball" set was not edited for this release. The 'purple underground' speech had already been edited out in 1987 when the song was included as the title track on the original 1987 "Crystal Ball" album (which was later pared down and released as "Sign O' The Times"). you can buy crystal ball cd on amazon its worth it for this song alone, fabulous musical journey. I would give this to a non fan to show them just what a musician he is and artist, many people seem to be remembering prince from the late 80s and have absolutely no idea of his music and its genius. this is one song that i feel it doesnt matter too much what the lyrics are about, they simply are part of the overall sound, that is not to say they are irrelevant - i mean in some of his music the lyrics ARE the song and in some the music is the song but in this one they are married perfectly, he uses his voice to enhance the rest of the music like an instrument!! i love the guitar plucking bit it sounds like a piece from chelsea, theres hints at many of his songs in this musically speaking anyone who likes the music of this should listen to N.E.W.S too - no lyrics but a similar myriad of sound walk with crooked shoes www.myspace/syblepurplelishous | |
