Maybe this is wishful thinking but perhaps someone with reliable sources can investigate my sneaky suspicion.

A friend of mine auditioned for American Idol this season and came back from the auditions saying that he heard that Prince was going to be a mentor this season. I found it interestingly odd last week that the mentor for this week was not announced but rather a vague description of the next show as "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Week" was given.

Does Unannounced Mentor + Cryptic description of this weeks show = Prince???

I'm just saying...nothing in the advertisments, nothing on the website, it seems like we are too far into the show for there not to be a mentor coming on.

Can you think of anyone besides Prince that would love to make this kind of a surprise appearance on TV. Anyone else would be advertised in every possible way.

I think Prince has his own choices to mentor namely Bria,

I cant see him on a show like Idol!

Hes not a public enough person for all that fake showmanship stuff and the camera on him a lot. He talks so soft and quiet.

I also think he believes in real godgiven talent - not teaching people to have a showbiz career.

not happening IMO.

Can I ask... has he done this before? I've heard mention of it a couple of times (from last year's show?)

He wasn't a mentor but he made a surprise appearance on the season finale of American Idol in 2006. He performed Lolita and Satisfied from 3121. You should have been here on the org when that happened. It was one of my favorite memories on the org since being a member.

I don't c it happening. I would see MJ doing it before P. Besides, it could be one of the many inductees (Aretha Franklin, Aerosmith, The O'Jays, Steve Wynwood, etc.). Hell, it may be Madonna (since her album just dropped).

People more suitable for that show are dull ass artists like Shitney Houston or Celine Dione. Dull artists for dull contestants on a dull show. No one with an ounce of funk should be caught anywhere near that show.

I still can't believe it either. The only thing that made me feel better, was when I heard what a bitch he acted by not associating with anyone and acting like he was better than they are....which is true.
