Remixes: "Head", "Pop Life" and "When Doves Cry" Ive just been listening to the work volume 7 disc 2, and it has "remixes" of Head, Pop Life and When Doves Cry. I was just wondering if you orgers knew anything about these remixes?
The material on this disc is from around 1994/1995 and the songs sound like the full versions of the versions in "Purple Medley" to me. Or alternativly, was this part of an attempt to re-record his back catalogue, as he always said he would? This is my first thread on here, so be nice

No, I don't think they were 'the new masters'. This is just Kirk Johnson ravaging through Prince back-catalogue. Sounds like the purple medley, because he did that too. Prince liked it so much, he let Kirk produce Emancipation (Ouch!).
That poplife mix isn't half bad though... The new masters were supposedly to be done by prince himself, not mixed but entirely anew recorded. Hi greyhoodie!

Does anyone know if any of the "new masters" were ever made apart from 1999? Or if there are any other remixes of songs done around the same time?

Hi tame!
Goodmorning to you too! (its a little after morning here however i am still in my PJs ) The remixes are not bad, especially if you like Purple Medly, as they sound similar to that. Sander said: That poplife mix isn't half bad though...
