Hi this is a really random question but something which has been annoying new, unable to find an answer!

What did Prince say when he accepted the Academy Award for Purple Rain?? Who presented it to him?? etc. etc.??

I didn't think he would accept it in person being him but then a few days ago I saw this photo of him holding the award at the podium with Wendy & Lisa behind him.

just looking for some information

I really don't know, however, I remember seeing an Oscar Highlight tape at Blockbuster's that has it on there...although that was at least 8 years ago, that I rented that.

No I remember him introducing W & L then some other stuff but dont remember what I was little but I also remember staying up just to watch to see if He won.

I'm more interested in the category he won for and who the other nominees were. When did it ever exist before? He didn't write the score, he didn't win for Original Song. What the hell is Original Song Score?

Why don't you Google this info?

I did. It doesn't make any sense and the award hasn't been given out since 1985. It only existed for a few years.

As far as I recall, he said it after saying thanks to all those people but I might be wrong. I still have that on VHS tape somewhere, very blurry but still watchable.

Curtis Mayfield almost won an Oscar for "Freddie´s Dead" or the whole Superfly Soundtrack, don´t know. But they changed their minds because they found it too drug gloryfying, to which Mr. Mayfield responded something like : " But Freddie´s DEAD ! How can this song be gloryfying drugs ?" . I guess they didn´t really get the message of his song(s).
Eminem also won an Oscar for best Original Song Score for a song in his 8 Mile movie.
