I agree that SOTT shows Prince's humble side, but to me, Emancipation (Disc 2 mostly) shows more humility than SOTT...but that's just me. LOVE SOTT!!! Definitely one of Prince's most innovative and musically phenomenal albums. A timeless masterpiece for sure. nod But, when I think of Prince being his most humble, SOTT isn't the first album to come to my mind. Hearing his unborn baby's heartbeat on a track made me look past Prince the musician and see Prince the humbled man. Just my twocents

Humility...I understand this word I believe...However, Isn't humility, just a foundation in music sometimes...

I look at PurpleKnights understanding as a bottom brick yes...however...can we be humble, and yet certain, that we have something to share? I almost think there isn't a word for this emotion, I am trying convey, which is often the case...

Sign' O The Times...feels somewhat adamant without arrogance...for example..."Play In the Sunshine..." You can be humble...if u want 2 use that word...however...why not have certain determination to get this out...u see...

I often think that Prince has been seen as someone arrogant...when Prince to me is in here...in this feeling I am trying to explain...The Rainbow Children is kind of the same way...Like willing 2 do the work...that song is not really humble...humility is at the root...but it doesn't have to be...In a song where you are offering upgrade...

It's almost like the humility we have attempting to have one hundred percent of faith...as extensions of GOD, where as maybe GOD doesn't need that faith, because He is absolutely certain...U see...I see Prince's determination musically in this light...humble I guess..but if I want to tell someone I love them...I'm gonna tell them with pride...because that love isn't 4 me...it is with. cool sorry for the continuous bla bla...anyway PurpleKnight inspired this attempted explanation...thanx.

Rather than blame the dissolution of the relationship on the woman (like he had in past classics like Something In the Water or When U Were Mine),

I disagree. Prince has always shown humility and vulnerability in his lyrics. Most of his classic "broken relationship" songs point to his inward problems (Nothing Compares, Dionne, Dark, Vicki Waiting, just to name a few). I believe that is why P has always had such a deep, connected and loyal female fanbase.

Even in Something in the Water he is obviously being ironic when describing how it is the water to blame for his relationship problems because everyone else thinks he is so cute! And I wouldn't call WUWM macho posturing. A lot of P's songs have complicated and conflicted emotions under the surface.
