Wow! This is Heavy

I just got the song "Wow" and it's been in my head for about 18 hours straight. Can anyone tell me about when it was recorded and what for? Thanks!

Prince recorded that in March 1992 for the "I'll Do Anything" soundtrack.

The movie was originally planned as a musical but test audiences didn´t like it and they decided to change the whole movie, and the Prince songs were not used.
The Prince penned songs that I remember were Empty Room, My Little Pill,Be My Mirror, Wow, Don´t Talk 2 Strangers and There Is Lonely, among others (I´m not really sure about the last one though) , this list is totally off the top of my head, and some songs were later officially released in one form or the other.

In the past , I used to think that Wow was a Carmen Electra album outtake that just happened to be on a bootleg album called Platinum, together with those songs listed above and some Come outtakes and alternate versions but then I read that Wow was also planned for that film.

this song is cool. i really like i'll do anything (the more "demo-y" version that sounds like it was recorded from the movie set lol). really funny cool lyrics ("what good is a private eye...if he ain't got no clue!? lol" and performance. and the slower funky version of make believe ("hot pants!") dancing jig and of course i can't love you anymore touched. changing the musical part of the movie was probably a good idea nod, but keeping p's music as the soundtrack would'a headbang shrug. nice project anyways music.
For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Ditto!! what a great place prince.org is; I can just ask any random question i have about any obscure song or topic and people respond w/ serious and thoughtful answers -- much appreciated.

back to the topic: this whole time-period (platinum) was such an interesting phase to be a fan, we never knew what was coming next except that it would entail more and different music! Now, I'm looking forward to a picture book? boo

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
