Holy smokes! Prince actually predicted 9/11 back in 1998.

I don't know if this is old news or whatever, but I got an e-mail from my mom about this Dutch magazine show about Prince's prediction of 9/11. And yes, even I knew that Osama was gonna cook up something even then. In what form I was uncertain, but I do remember when he was all over the media in the 90's. Whatever, that doesn't matter.

What matters is that Prince knew what time it was even then. Of course it's true that our hero has musically been way ahead of his time. But to be this prophetic is quite amazing.

Now I might be taking a risk in posting the video clip. But this ain't no Prince video. It's just an audio clip on a Dutch talk show.

Take that, Mods! wink

Covered loads of times before here (with no need to publish the link).

He was singing in the wake of previous activity by Bin Laden.

The reference to 2001 is not about the twin towers ... he is simply cueing the band as they play the "Also Sprach ..." piece by Richard Strauss which is commonly referred to as 2001 because it was the theme music in Kubrick's film.

Aftershow Tivoli in Utrecht, The Netherlands. December 24th 1998.

Indeed the remark seems creepy in retrospect, but was mentioned because of Bin Laden's recent activity in Africa. It does not take Nostradamus to see that Bin Laden's name spelled trouble.
It just shows Prince is a keen observer, not a bleedin' seer.

The aftershow became famous after the 2001 terrorist attacks, but I will remember it mainly cuz Scott and Kravitz put down a guitar jam so tight it made Prince jealous and made him fret behind his keyboard.

cool

Something strange happened to me in 2000...This is a strange truth...I kept being inspired to listen to "Tie a Yellow Ribbon..." by Tony Orlando...I know he didn't write the song, and I forgot who did...However....The drive I had to play this song at least once a week, was trying to tell me something...I didn't know that 9/11 was around the corner, but what I do know is that angels were telling me to focus on that song....all of the time for well over a year....

I ended up putting a large yellow silk ribbon and the lyrics to the song in a time capsule at a church...that will be taken out in about 93 years.

And sure enough...the yellow ribbons laced communities everywhere.

Tame i'm always intrigued by ur posts, so i looked up the lyrics to that song, here they are, i like posting lyrics hope u dont mind. heart

I'm comin' home, I've done my time
Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine
If you received my letter telling you I'd soon be free
Then you'll know just what to do
If you still want me
If you still want me
Whoa, tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree
It's been three long years
Do ya still want me?
If I don't see a ribbon round the old oak tree
I'll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree

Bus driver, please look for me
'cause I couldn't bear to see what I might see
I'm really still in prison
And my love, she holds the key
A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free
I wrote and told her please

Whoa, tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree
It's been three long years
Do ya still want me?
If I don't see a ribbon round the old oak tree
I'll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree

Now the whole damned bus is cheerin'
And I can't believe I see
A hundred yellow ribbons round the old oak tree

I'm comin' home
my innocence raped my trust betrayed my mind deceived my heart in smitherines and u've got the gall to breathe.
