Call my Name reached #75
Future Baby Mama charted on the R&B/Hip-hop charts at #39
Musicology charted on the R&B/Hip-hop charts at #44

So none made the billboard top 40. Closest was Black Sweat coming in at #60.

I've heard 2 different versions of this song. I have the "alternate" on a cd that I burned and then I heard the orginal one. The alternate version doesn't contain the "trial" skit and has different lyrics in some parts. Can someone give me any additional info on the alternate version?

I love this song! I remember hearing it on the radio all the time.In my area,it was the last big radio hit that Prince had.If he had released the video and promoted it more aggressively, this could have been one of his biggest hits.

hmmm I have the maxi-single,which contains different versions. One of the versions features alot of spoken lines....really different from the single version. There's also a smooth jazz version with Eric Leeds.

For some reason,I thought those singles did better than that.

Yeah, I think a number of people would say that. It was probably because of all the video airplay that Musicology and Black Sweat had that made it appear as though they were bigger radio/chart hits than they actually were. I still think that they may be “hits” based solely on video airplay. Call My Name didn’t go Top 40, but it stayed on the Hot 100 chart for a couple of months. In fact, I think CMN represented his longest stretch on the Billboard chart since TMBGITW.

It's very likely from your description that you are referring to the Extended Remix:

which features on the Maxi single as mentioned above and detailed here:

.
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
