P's involvement on "Like a Prayer" ?

Great song and well put together. Now i would like to know if P's electric guitar riffs were on both Single and album versions??

no, he's not on the album version. he is on the album closer Act Of Contrition, though.

his guitar appears in the remixes. you can hear him in the fade out of the 7" single version. and one or 2 of the longer remixes as well, but i don't remember for sure and i don't remember which ones off the top of my head. and supposedly some version of his own (her track or his, i don't know) that he produced and locked up in the vault.

Wrong he is !

"The single version of "Like a Prayer" (7" remix) is slightly different from the album version in some extra background production, including a shorter and heavier guitar intro, louder bass, string arrangements in the verses and electric guitar at the song's climax. In addition, the album version features bass guitar played by Randy Jackson, while the 7" version uses an analogue bass synthesizer, which is the unmistakable sound of a Minimoog. Both versions feature electric guitar riffs by Prince."

Wiki is wrong. He's not on the album version. His guitar parts were used instead on Act Of Contrition, and re-used on the 7" single/radio version of the song.

We'll always wonder what a true collaboration between these two would have been like. Their voices sounded pretty good together on Love Song.
