A freind of mine told me a while ago that prince had appeared on jay leno with mel gibson and said to mel hey do you want to go and watch a movie after the show and an embarrassed looking mel was like "what, er yeah", does anybody know what I am talking about or has anyone infact seen it.

Mel was there promoting "The Passion Of The Christ".
Prince wanted to watch it with him.

Yeah, Mel was clearly uncomfortable when Prince was talking to him!!!

Yes,I saw it and I think was a little stunned by Prince, he was staring at him with his mouth opened and so Prince made a little joke at him.

I was there. Mel Gibson was first, "promoting" The Passion Of The Christ.

Prince came on and jokingly asked if Mel wanted to go see a movie. It is very hard to convey the sentiment, but Prince was fake-acting being uncomfortable asking, because the subject matter was so heavy. Prince was breaking the ice and creating a lighthearted atmosphere; he did it very well!

Some things that the general public didn't see about that show:

• The 3 of them (Jay, Mel, Prince) stood on stage after the interviews and taped several different promotional spots. On one of them Jay said "Tune in to see 2 well-dressed men AND Mel Gibson" (Mel Gibson wore faded black jeans, and looked like a bum next to Prince).

• Prince re-recorded the Musicology performance because of a "technical problem". I didn't hear any problems, but we all got a 2nd performance! To me, it sounded note-for-note identical to the first.

• There was a comedian scheduled for that night. He decided to reschedule, because he didn't feel comfortable having a comedy routine right after the heaviness of the Passion interview. I personally think that Mel and Prince's starpower made him nervous!

Like I've said before, this was one of my favorite Prince moments.

Didn't Prince initially ask Mel "Hey, what are you doing after the show?" and Mel was catatonic and said (I think) "Dancing I guess"... something to that degree anyway.... I played that so many times...Prince's voice sorta quivered when he asked Mel..it was so cute.....In that interview Jay asks Prince what song he'll miss playing the most after Musicology and he giggles again and says something like "yeah right" "I guess Purple Rain"..... oh Prince you "spin doctor" u

Yep.....I never saw it before the tour...I saw it online quite awhile ago...it's probably gone now.
