Obviously it wasn't Wendy or Lisa cuz neither of them was in the group. Damn! P has stated that he was listening to Lennon while he was writing When You Were Mine. I've given the source of this statement TWICE already. It's THIS post that needs to be read. Again, I say "Damn". BG it isnt worth the fuss, this cat obviously wants to beleive what they want to. Its like the old saying"You can lead a horse to water but cant make him drink" No need to get your nerves up in a huff. *hands a glass of iced tea and offers a chair* *you have a orgnote* Smurf theme song-seriously how many fucking "La Las" can u fit into a dam song

I do remember reading in the past about Prince saying that "When You Were Mine" was influenced by Lennon but my question to BlackGuitaristz and everyone is this.... I'm very familiar with all of Lennon's music since I'm a big fan of both his and Prince but I can't think of any Lennon song that sounds even remotely like "When You Were Mine." Of course, it doesn't have to sound like a Lennon song in order to be influenced by his music, it's possible P. got the inspiration listening to Lennon's music and came up with something totally different...I'm just curious to know if anyone can point out a particular Lennon song that has the same vibe as "When You Were MIne" cuz I can't think of any... ...and this is a COOL thread, I love it when someone points out something that was under my nose and I did not see it! Yeah, good that someone else remembers P saying that. I KNOW I was the only one who has read that. To answer your question emilio, Nah...I don't know of a Lennon song that sounds anything like WUYM. I was only commenting on what P had said. I don't know why P felt compelled to say that if it wasn't true. Especially as early in his career as it was. To say that he wasn't into The Beatles or Lennon untill Wendy came alomg is insulting to Prince. I know for a FACT that P was heavy into the Stones because Cymone told me so. He said growing up with P, P idolized Jagger. Plus, AGAIN on the Dirty Mind album, the cut Uptown, musically, is a straight bite off of the Stones "Miss You". Many people on here already knows that, so that's no secret among a lot of P fans. So P was into The Stones but not The Beatles? That of course is untill Wendy exposed him to them? Yeah, who exposed P to The Stones?

There have been about half a dozen threads of people debating that ON THIS SITE in the last couple of weeks. Do you need to be spoonfed everything? ----- Maybe those people have never heard of AWIAD so the debate is kind of pointless Unlike you have a life and I do not waste my time checking out every topic on this board.

From the way you seem to follow me around & take issue with the majority of my posts, without even first noting the obvious context that they are in the idea that you have a life is questionable at best. Oh & it's ATWIAD, if you're going to be too lazy to type out the complete title.

This thread is interesting. Especially how Wall seems to limit Prince knowledge of music in each post. I would say we cannot really know what he knew or was influenced by at what time. For example, 'Raspberry Beret', a song with a ver obvious Beatles influence, was actually written years before the release of ATWIAD.
I'm sure I remember a quote that Prince was a walking musical encyclopedia. Who said that? Alan Leeds? Ah, I don't know. And really, Prince playing Sly Stone medleys over and over again proofs nothing but that it's his favorite music.

I do not know what fools don't know the P was influeced by the Beatles but I would expect you would check all those types of topics because you do not have anything else to do.

Actually, P has said that he wrote When You Were Mine the night John was murdered. That was Annie Christian actually
