Loved the report! Some folks write really good ones. You did! Wish I had been there, too. Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

very nice story indeed...prince loves performing for his fans and his fans love seeing him performing, its just that he would rather fans see him in the flesh than a less intimate online showing.
not many artists would go out of their way and do a mini set like this. Wouldn't you love to love me?

LUCKY YOU!!!!
I got to see Prince last when he was plugging Tamar in DC at the late Club Nation 3 years ago and got to dance on stage and was made fun of by my dancing by his royal badness!!!! I loved it!! Can you answer me a question? When I watched him on Leno there seemed to be a backdrop that looked like a group photo or a new album cover of sorts on the stage ? Could you describe what that was at all? THANKS!! Kurt

Got a question for you Renfield.
1999 Was it played as a straight forward version or more like the version in the Rave dvd? I'm firmly planted in denial

I was at the taping yesterday (thanks to a friend at work who was able to get tickets) and it was amazing! At first I wasn't sure if "Turn Me Loose" was a new song or a cover, but the lyrics gave it away as Prince. You all basically saw what I saw as far as that goes, but here's the cool part---after they were done taping the announcer told us all to sit, because Prince was going to perform for us! Everyone cheered and sat, and after just a few minutes he came back out and started fiddling with the opening to "Guitar." Fans started screaming, but Prince gave everyone a "hold on a minute" look while he adjusted his effects peddle. After about a minute of playing around he started playing "Guitar" again. The band joined in and he ripped through it. Sounded much better live! When he was done he walked off and the fans kept applauding. After a moment, the horn players came back out on the set and Prince returned again (without his jacket...I guess he had to do some sort of wardrobe change ha ha). The slow-voice intro to "1999" started playing and the crowd went WILD. Prince ran through the entire song, which I had never been able to hear him do in person before. The back-up singers joined in towards the end for the "PAR-tay" chants. The whole audience was singing "party" as the song wound down. P did the "Mommy, why does everybody have a bomb?" finale, then finally left the stage. As he left he said something like "See ya'll at Coachella tomorrow." Everyone was wiped out,and grinning from this little mini-concert! I was able to leave through the employee exit thanks to my friend who got the tickets for me. As I was in the lobby waiting on friends, Renato walked past me. All I could get out was "That was amazing!" and he smiled and said "Thanks!" We walked past Prince's gear, which had the symbol stenciled on it, and I asked my friend if artists usually performed after the show like that. She said "Never, no one ever does more than one song unless they messed up and need to re-tape." Jay was on the side of the stage bobbing his head the whole time. Prince came back out and played just for the fans, and it was incredible. When I went out through the backstage area to get to my car, we actually got to walk past his limo (which he was inside at the time). I tried to keep calm and as I walked past the tinted windows, I just mouthed "Thank you." I have no idea if he was even looking, but I had to say something, right? It was incredible, almost better than the times I've seen him in concert, given the intimate setting. My girlfriend went with me and she got to see him live for the first time. It was very cool of him to come back and play the extra songs, and much appreciated by everyone in attendance. Sorry to be so long-winded, just thought some of ya'll out there might be interested! And no, I didn't get any pictures...they were watching us like hawks! Thank u so much 4 this intricate account! This as many past occurrences r proof of how much Prince truly loves his fans enough 2 keep coming and coming with more per4mances! Eye love U Prince!!!!!

renfield said: Yes, I was very fortunate to be able to attend! I thought someone else would have mentioned the extra performance by now---it was definitely a Prince crowd (lots of t-shirts and symbol necklaces and such) so I figured there HAD to be another orger in attendance!
My girlfriend was in disbelief...she didn't realize at first that the other songs weren't part of the show. She was like "He just did that for our benefit?" We all know Prince can be kind of a jerk sometimes, but he can also be really cool. cool man just cool Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
James Brown & Michael Jackson RIP, your music still lives with us!
