Unreleased track: "I WONDER" Hey guys
I just discovered this track for the first time the other night. I'm told it's from the Diamonds and Pearls sessions / 91-92 era. Is this correct? Kina makes sense, it has a very soul feel to it, which I know he was really diggin at that time (along with the hip-hop sounds he was was favouring around then). It almost sounds to me like a Sly & Family Stone track. Any other info about this tune much appreciated.

Fucking LOVE that track -from what i've heard it was first recorded in '83, then completely redone in 91 - dunno what changes were made, but it's one of my all time favorite Prince tracks - like, fuck musicology, release THIS shit!

That track is a definite favorite of mine. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

easily 1 of my top 5 fave unreleased trax, as a demo it works just fine. File under 'another fucked up decision to leave in the vaults whilst choosing to release an endless ream of dross', somebody get this man a producer!.

I've said this for years, but he could release it today and have a hit single with.

That and bunches of other tracks, too. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It's a great track, simple, infectious. was my wife's fave Prince track, she'd put that on repeat all the time
Kinda fades out quick, i get the feeling there's more to it. i'd love to hear it in full one day.

But i am a little disturbed by the line: "all the girls i know are dumber than a post"... seems a little harsh for someone that revels in the bimbos that he can easily manipulate with that dumb-ass JW shite!... - we're not talking rocket science here...

Totally agree with Nouveau Dance. I've always thought he should release it as a single with a trippy, cartoony-type vid. I'm sure it'd attract a lot of air-play.

A brilliant rack. Really really love it.

Love this track. In 98 a lot of unreleased stuff got out, to me at least. Six discs chuck full of stuff I never heard and this was the track I played on repeat for a week! Great to see it getting love around here.
@ Nouveau: The song might be a hit, I'm just not sure Prince could actually make it a hit anymore. A song isn't enough, image-wise it gotta make sense...

Wow, cheers guys. Never expected such a response.
Just goes to show there's a great rrack and a GREAT track. Everyone seems to fel almost exactly the same abot it. My girlfriend, not a Prince fan (she's never heard much stuff before she met me_ heard it first time last night and was asking me to rewind it and rewind it and rewind it... Altogether now: "I....I....wonder if she know how much I lover huuuur!!"

It would have made a great 'proper' release. I really like the gospel/soul feel that is within this track. Starts to lost it a little toward the end (2:30) but gets back into the song for the finish. Wouldn't have been amiss on Sign O The Times.
Nice thing about just doing an iTunes search was that it came between Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground and Sam Cooke's Wonderful World (personal library). But then having just listened to those two tracks I Wonder pales somewhat (come on I am talking Stevie and Sam with two complete classic tracks!)

awesome outtake! reall should have been a b-side. wonder why he stopped having one for pretty much every single at this time? would have been great as the b-side to D&P or Money Don't Matter. I'm missing my best friend Yes it was Incredible There's no reason to pretend
